Notability

I am unclear that this earthquake meets the requirements of WP:EVENT, the relevant guideline. No doubt it meets WP:GNG, but that is why WP:EVENT was written. The key thing here is enduring notability. Mikenorton (talk) 16:48, 20 December 2022 (UTC)

I agree. I'm not sure this event really should have an article written about it. I think it would fit better if it just went into the list of earthquakes in 2022 article only. SamBroGaming (talk) 18:07, 20 December 2022 (UTC)

Bosh. 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake veteran here. Not only has Ferndale already been included in List of California earthquakes' Notable Earthquakes subsection, some VIs with no fatalities also have articles. 70% of Humboldt has lost power, and all of California's emergency services are in play. Mike started the discussion when there was minimal impact reported; see revision at the time of comment. Had there not been any further developments beyond what's stated in this revision by now, the question of notability would be relevant. Seems like the article was started WP:TOOSOON and developments was slow. It shouldn't be an issue now that multiple rs cover significant impact.
