Too much detail? edit

With all due respect to the victims of this disaster, to me it seems that the part of the Airstrike section that graphically describes the site of the disaster contains more detail than what is appropriate for an encyclopedia. Is it really relevant to describe how the air was "filled with smoke and the smell of burnt meat"? lovkal (talk) 22:06, 3 July 2019 (UTC) Pinging @DondeEstaElBurro?: lovkal (talk) 22:13, 3 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

These are reactions by members of the Libyan government. I feel it's important to incorporate quotes that convey a government perspective on the event. I could try using less graphic word choice, but certain details need to be included to illustrate the incident. A less graphic quote from a more relevant member of the government could well replace "burnt meat" if it detailed the incident well.

@DondeEstaElBurro?:Very well, in that case it is probably relevant. But the part just before that, "Stunned survivors awoke to widespread bloodshed and confusion within the residential unit that had been struck" is, as far as I can see, not attributed to the Libyan government and doesn't fit the encyclopedic tone in my view. Other disaster-related articles, such as September 11 attacks and Attack on Pearl Harbor do not graphically describe their events like this. lovkal (talk) 23:13, 3 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Noted.

Who was responsible? edit

There is not one mention in the article of who carried out the airstrike - the single sentence in the lead obliquely suggests it might have been an EU country but even that might not be correct. Thryduulf (talk) 10:38, 5 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Was waiting to see whose resources the LNA used, since they don't have their own air force. Apparently the UAE's.

But they do. See Libyan Air Force. --SVTCobra 07:38, 7 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

New York Times investigation edit

Date edit

"air strikes on a detention centre near Libya's capital Tripoli on Tuesday"[1], "Survivors said the attack occurred about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday"[2], i.e. 2 July. --Mewaqua (talk) 04:56, 12 July 2019 (UTC) Thank you. How very interesting and somewhat infuriating. Various news agencies including the UN News site itself say 3 July but you are correct, this occurred on 2 of July near midnight. I have corrected it accordingly.Reply
