4 countries not yet qualified. edit

Timor Leste, Dominica, Eritrea and Bermuda are all within qualification standards, but are not listed by the FIS as being qualified. I think its due to them needing more races (which undoubtedly) will happen in the new year. Thus keeping them on the list is good for now and they can be removed if needed be. A Big thank you to Ymblanter! edit

Thank you for organizing the list in Russian! Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 16:08, 26 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Russian alphabet order edit

Cyprus should go before Kyrgyzstan 37.190.61.42 (talk) 16:05, 29 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Size of table edit

The size of the table is a bit too big. Is there away to change this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sportsfan 1234 (talkcontribs) 16:32, 31 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Timor Leste/India edit

This article from today confirms India will compete as Independent Olympic Athletes [1]. ""They will not represent the country under the Indian flag, but they are participating as independent athletes under the Olympic flag."

As for Timor Leste the athlete wrote, "I am Qualifie for the Winter olympic games thx for all your support love you !!!" on his facebook page [2] Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 19:58, 31 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

I'll update that later. Anyway, what's the Russian translation for Independent Olympic Athletes ? Griff88 (talk) 09:27, 1 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
We (Smartyllama) came to a conclusion that Timor-Leste will be excluded until FIS officially says he qualifies (even though he has according to the standards). Anyways I think someone has put in the Russian translation. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 17:33, 1 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Russian and Romanization columns? edit

Given this is English Wikipedia, is there a reason to display the Russian and Romanization columns in the table? --Another Believer (Talk) 21:44, 1 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yes because the Russian order is what will be used, and without that being listed it would be confusing to the reader. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 23:00, 1 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
And, as for the Romanization? --Another Believer (Talk) 04:35, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Since not everyone able to read Cyrillic alphabet (which is used in Russia), the romanization is added for those who unable read Cyrillic. Griff88 (talk) 07:08, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
But can't some of this info be presented at wikis for other languages? This is English Wikipedia. --Another Believer (Talk) 19:13, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Which is why we need to summarize the info. If the nations enter in order of another language we need to mention that! Furthermore how would you expect someone that knows English only to navigate the Russian Wikipedia to access this info? Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 23:51, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
I think only English should be displayed. A note, or even referenced prose, can communicate that the order of nations is based on the Russian alphabet, or whatever. I still do not understand why Romanization is necessary. To English speakers/readers, these columns are just special characters, so to speak. --Another Believer (Talk) 23:55, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
I know that this is English Wikipedia, where English is used to explain things. But, just like what I've said before : the romanization is added for those who unable read Cyrillic. In the 1980, 1988, 2004, and 2008 edition, romanization is added there because Russian, Korean, Greek, Chinese language don't use Latin alphabet. In other words, romanization is only included for the languages which don't use Latin alphabet. Griff88 (talk) 06:48, 5 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Georgia edit

Georgia changed Gedevanishvili to Ciklauri. --195.93.246.47 (talk) 15:33, 21 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

It has been changed. Thanks. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 00:25, 22 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Confirmation edit

sources for Azerbaijan, Belarus and Ukraine? --195.93.246.47 (talk) 12:41, 30 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

I have removed them. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 01:32, 31 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Alpha order edit

This photo [3] appears to show the flags in order, but the British Virgin Islands bucks the trend. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 06:25, 31 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Well, just wait for the opening ceremony and it will be clear then. Griff88 (talk) 13:34, 6 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
By the way, if I remembered what I heard, the russian name for US virgin island didn't use "SShA". Only the english designation was changed, wasn't it? Griff88 (talk) 05:28, 8 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Featured list… eventually edit

Much thanks to User:Sportsfan 1234 for keeping such a close eye on this list, and for making many improvements. SF, once the event has passed, the information is confirmed, the references are formatted, and the lead is strong, you might consider nominating this list for Featured List status. Thank you! Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 06:08, 8 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Timor Leste edit

Timor Leste entered as Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. Can someone make the necessary Russian translations. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 06:26, 8 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

The english designation is different with the russian one (the one listed is correct). Same case with I.R.Iran which is only announced as Iran.Griff88 (talk) 12:45, 8 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Table edit

On my computer/screen, the table extends beyond the normal frame, though I am not not sure why it does not adjust appropriately. Would adding % commands for the columns help? ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:56, 13 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
