Talk:2012 GP3 Series

Mücke Motorsport edit

Although the reference supplied says that the grid has been cut down to 27 seats, I can find no evidence that Mucke have withdrawn. With the series considering reducing the number of cars per team to two with the third car as an option, removing Mucke from the table is a massive assumption - it is conceivable that they, Jenzer and Trident will only enter two cars each, which will still keep the total number of cars at 27. The first round in Barcelona is only a week away, so everything should become clear shortly. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 02:46, 6 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Can you provide any actual source for Mucke's participation except outdated reference in article and this? Cybervoron (talk) 03:33, 6 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Can you provide any actual source for Mucke's withdrawal other than that magazine you linked to? After all, it only says that there will be 27 entries instead of 30. It doesn't specify which cars have been removed from the grid, and without any evidence to support your edits, you're making an assumption. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 05:30, 6 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Mücke (not Mucke) told, that they want not participate in the GP3 Series anymore. But they still have a contract with this series. Thats the reason why the series lists them in the teams-list. If they would not do this, Mücke could use this as an argument to get easily out of the contract. --Gamma127 (talk) 09:01, 6 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
It's pretty clear Mucke won't be there because they haven't been to any of the tests and we know from an Autosport story that they were looking for a way out. But there hasn't been official confirmation. We're bound to get an entry list by next Thursday so I don't see why we're suddenly making a fuss about this. - mspete93 10:02, 6 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
I agree - they won't be there. But without official confirmation, we can't really do anything about it. The GP3 pages (probably) don't get a lot of traffic, especially when compared to other motorsport-themed pages. Keeping Mucke (yes, I know there's an umlaut in the name, but since this is just the talk page, I'm not too fussy about it) in the table for three or four days isn't going to ruin the page. Mucke having been removed from the series website, howepfully we will get some explanation as to why so that we can update the article. But news has always been pretty slow in coming from the event organisers. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 09:38, 9 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

I think there was an Autosport Magazine story a couple of months back explaining that Mucke just wanted to leave the series, basically. There won't be an announcement. Unfortunately this isn't F1 and things can happen in the background without communication being needed. - mspete93 17:07, 9 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Well, I was just hoping there would be something for the sake of completeness. But I suppose that when the series starts this weekend, we can simply add a note under the team changes subsection to say that Mucke did not appear at the start of the season. Trident Racing edit

I absolutely disagree with reference, that only confuses and didn't state, that they could set three cars. Maybe this link will be more appropriate. But not understanding, why we couldn't wait until the third driver will be announced, what I have big doubts. Cybervoron (talk) 09:19, 11 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Because the rules state that teams must have three cars. The "two cars mandatory with a third optional" rule was never introduced. And the series website lists car #25 as TBA, suggesting that Trident will enter a third car at some point. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 02:32, 12 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
How do you know the rule wasn't introduced? Clearly if it wasn't introduced, Trident would be in big trouble for not fielding three cars. So I'm sure they only need to enter two. We don't use TBA in other championships where there's a chance teams could enter more cars. Not a lot is different here. - mspete93 09:28, 12 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in 2012 GP3 Series edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of 2012 GP3 Series's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
