It was removed by myself as it's not what the reference says and you have inserted it again. Please be aware that Wikipedia is build on verifiable references and not what people think. The British Isles is an entirely acceptable alternative to Great Britain and Ireland, so there was no need for you to remove it in the first place. Welcome BlackPrinceDave. I'm not wishing to get into a edit war so I will leave the article as is to allow you to look for an appropriate reference that supports the claim. There is no claim. It is using an alternative term, and a better one because Great Britain and Ireland is too wordy. My comments stand about what you appear to be doing here. References that define British Isles are all over the place. BlackPrinceDave (talk) 19:25, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

Reference defining the British Isles is not what we are looking for here and don't worry about it being to wordy this is an encyclopaedia after all. Again I would suggest you look at WP:GS/BI for guidelines on using the term and also British Isles naming dispute for some background on the use of the term. A couple of question for you BlackPrinceDave: 1) What brought you to this article and Wikipedia as an editor? Within a few hours of my initial edit you had made your first revert. 2) As you have already pointed out the term Ireland and Great Britain is a bit wordy, so why do you think the author of the reference choose to use it rather than British Isles? With regards to the many definitions of British Isles they all define it as containing over six thousand islands and not just the two mention by the reference including the Isle of Man, Orkney's, Shetlands and the Channel Islands. 1) I've been editing under ip for a short while and just spotted your change in a history article I wss looking at, and it seemed to me to be a mean and unnecessary change. 2) So let me answer this question with my own question. Are you saying that unless something or someone has links to all the 6000 islands we can't use British Isles? If that's what you're saying, you need to think again. I see you are unable to answer the key question but I will answer yours. It's not what I think or you thing that matters, the project over the years has had a series of POV socks inserting/removing the term BI and therefore a set of general sanctions have been put in place.
