Thank God

I've been looking in a lot of places, and couldn't find a single page that mentioned the name of the VP in Hitman; Blood Money. They all refer to him as 'The Vice President'; even FAQs which have gone to great lengths to list every single character by name and profession.

VPs based on real people

Should there be notations in these items when a character is clearly based on a real person? For example, one of West Wing's VPs over the series was clearly based on Speaker Dennis Hastert. The VP in The Day After Tomorrow was clearly intended to evoke Cheney. Gossg (talk) 16:52, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

Not in the cases you give; without citations to verify, that would be "original research", when a character is just "clearly based" according to your opinion of a real politician; this is where we're getting into BLP territory. I think the writers would strongly protest if we said that (fear of libel.)

Note, this is quite a different situation from roman a clef or film a clef ("with a key"), where the historical context of the plot clearly makes it a re-telling of history (or speculation of an alternate one). Clear cases: The Company (Ehrlichman novel) == Watergate scandal; The Greek Tycoon == Aristotle Onassis; Promises to Keep (novel) == John F. Kennedy assassination conspiracy theory, with him surviving. William Curry, Esker Anderson, Richard Monckton, James Cassidy, John T. Casasidy, Tim Cassidy, and Ransom Gardner are identified by whom they represent (here and in the fictional Presidents articles.) JustinTime55 (talk) 20:18, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
