Mahalingam Marimuthu (born 24 Dec 1982) is an Indian playback singer.[1], a Tamil folk singer and music composer, who predominantly sings in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Telugu languages. He has also sung hundreds of film songs and independent albums. He is an established folk singer. Biography
editMahalingam was born to Marimuthu and Velayi. He did his schooling at Puliyal, Sivagangai. At the start of his career, Mahalingam had been giving stage performances since the year 2000. His first recording for a tamil movie happened in 2009. Some of his popular and notable songs are in the movies like Ragalapuram, Komban, Salim, Rajni Murugan, Sethupathi, Mesaya Murukku, Sema, Thimurupudichanvan, Mahaaan[3], Ponniyin Selvan[4], Mangalavaaram[5], Maari 2[6],Raja Ranguski[7], etc. He has associated with all famous Indian music composers like Ilayaraja, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Vidhya Sagar, Deva, Srikant Deva, Vijay Antony, D.Iman, C.Staya, Agnees Loganath, etc.
He has started his career as music composer also in 2023 through the tamil movie Kulasamy[8]
Mahalingam has been doing various stage performances across the globe. He has performed more than 1500 concerts in India[9] and abroad. He has huge welcome support in Canada where he has done the highest number of stage performances. He has performed in Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia, London and Australia.
His main strength is a Folk singer in Tamil. He has sung and performed a lots of Folk songs and his songs on relations with Mother, Father, Wife, etc. are a huge success. He owns his channel in You tube which regularly publishes his own songs which receive huge support from his fans.
He has performed more than 100 devotional songs in Tamil.
Performing at Sadhguru's Isha Yoga Center during Maha Shivratri function is one of the prestigious events where high class notable top notch performers only are invited. Mahalingam was conducting his performance during 2024 event at Isha Center.[10]

editHe was awarded first prize winner of Rock Star Music competition in ZEE Tamil TV. He won first prize in Vijay TV famous show Mr. and Mrs. Chinnathirai[12] participating with his wife.
