The Olympic Esports Games (OEG) will be an international multi-sport event for professional gamers, organized by the International Olympic Committee. The first edition will be held in Saudi Arabia in 2025. The games were unanimously voted into creation during the 142nd IOC Session on July 23rd, 2024.

After the Olympic Esports Week in Singapore in 2023, IOC President Thomas Bach asked the IOC Esports Commission to study the creation of the games at the 141st IOC Session. Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Saud and Reema bint Bandar Al Saud heavily pushed for the creation of the games, and they were awarded hosting rights at the 142nd IOC Session, though the exact city and venue is still in the process of being selected, as well as the dates. After the vote, IOC members confirmed a 12-year deal with Saudi Arabia to host the event.[1] The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had heavily invested in esports, and they are currently holding the 2024 Esports World Cup.[2] The IOC has also announced that they will create a new dedicate structure within itself, separated from the Olympic Games. They will take a different approach with regard to the financing and organization of the Esports Olympic Games.[3] International Federations that are already engaged in a video game version of their sport that is considered for inclusion in the games will be the IOC's first go-to partners, as well as National Olympic Committees that already include esports in their activities. It has not yet been confirmed what events will be a part of the games, with the IOC's last esports event's title lineup having been described as "out-of-touch."
