Federico Lobuono is an Italian politician and journalist born in Lecce on April 19, 2000. A member of the executive committee of the Democratic Party in Rome, he has been an advisor to the Mayor's Cabinet Office Roberto Gualtieri since 2022.[1] He currently also serves as a business consultant for the weekly L'Espresso and the monthly Forbes.
Lobuono gained notoriety as a minor for challenging former Prime Minister Matteo Renzi during the 2017 Lingotto convention.[2] In 2020, he became the youngest mayoral candidate in Rome's history,[3] before withdrawing his candidacy to support the current Mayor.[4]
Among his various collaborations, Federico Lobuono has written articles for l'Unità, HuffPost, the monthly magazine of the Class Editori group Class, Il Foglio, The Post Internazionale, Linkiesta, and Il Fatto Quotidiano. He founded and directed AskaNews Millennials, an editorial project of the agency askanews.[5]
Active also in the radio world, he was a commentator for Radio Kiss Kiss for three years, on the program hosted by Francesco Facchinetti. He was also a regular guest on the show Non è l'Arena, hosted by Massimo Giletti and produced by Fremantle (company) for La7.
Awards and Recognitions
editIn 2017 the monthly magazine Class awarded him the title of "Most Dynamic Youngster in Italy."
In 2019 he was listed among the 20 most promising young Italians by The Post Internazionale.[6]
In 2021 the newspaper Il Tempo included him in the list of names "to watch."
In 2022 the monthly magazine Fortune recognized him as one of the 40 under 40 in the category of institutional relations.[7]
In 2023 the monthly magazine Forbes highlighted him as one of the top 10 public affairs professionals in Italy.[8]
In 2024 the Roma Pride committee and the President of the Circolo di cultura omosessuale Mario Mieli awarded him the 2024 Roma Pride Prize, Friend of the Community.
