The Centrists,[a] are members, supporters, voters and a faction of the Australian Liberal Party who are typically economically, socially and environmentally liberal. The faction however can be described as somewhat more conservative than the Moderates.

Political position

The faction has been described as being on the centre of the political spectrum.[citation needed]

They compete with the Liberal Party's other three major factions: The National Right/Hard Right, the Moderates, and the Centre Right.[citation needed]

History

The Centrist faction emerged and gained prominence following internal realignments within the Liberal Party after the 2022 federal election, consisting of former Moderate and Centre Right MPs, particularly from Victoria.[citation needed]
