Pre-Romanesque architecture

edit

@ZemplinTemplar: Would you please clarify your addition of Category:Pre-Romanesque architecture in Slovakia via this edit? Pre-Romanesque architecture refers to European architecture after the end of the Roman Empire (and its descendant Western Roman Empire), whereas this category contains fortifications constructed during Ancient Roman times. Thanks, -- Black Falcon (talk) 00:39, 26 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for asking ! As Romanesque architecture is post-Roman and generally occurs in the European early medieval period, I thought "Pre-Romanesque architecture" would also involve Roman architecture from later antiquity (i.e. the first millennium AD). Is there any good alternative category for central European Roman architecture built during the era of the empire ? I can move it to that category, if it exists. --ZemplinTemplar (talk) 16:03, 26 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
Both Romanesque and pre-Romanesque architecture are post-Roman (i.e. post-5th century) architectural styles, so you may be looking for Category:Ancient Roman architecture. I will note, however, that this category is already in Category:Roman sites in Slovakia, and it seems duplicative for a category to be categorized both as a Roman site and an example of Ancient Roman architecture. -- Black Falcon (talk) 01:37, 21 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thank you ! Glad the confusion was cleared up. :-) --ZemplinTemplar (talk) 17:17, 21 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
