Category talk:Polish prisoners and detainees

Do we really need this page?

As the talk title says, what exactly is the purpose of this 'category', other than arbitrarily list people who once were detainees or prisoners, wherever that might have been, since it would be already mentioned in their own biography page. Unless this page is populated by ALL those who were EVER detained or imprisoned, famous or otherwise, this page is relatively 'pointless'. 109.153.105.18 (talk) 12:50, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

This cat should only hold people of Polish birth - which Polanski e.g. is NOT, & who are PRESENTLY prisoners or detainees - not those who WERE once detained/imprisoned at one point in their lives. 109.153.105.18 (talk) 00:25, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

• This category is for anyone of Polish nationality who is notable for having been a prisoner or a detainee. It is not limited to those who are presently imprisoned. That's not how categories work. It applies to anyone, past or present, who is notable for their status as a Polish prisoner or detainee. Were it not so, ‹The template Cat is being considered for merging.› Category:Executed Polish people could not be a subcategory of this category, since obviously they are no longer presently detained or imprisoned.
