Arab describes the differing definitions of "Arab" and the problems with each. This category does not make explicit how it is defining "Arab" and therefore cannot address or warn of the problems that exist with every existing definition. It thereby is OR and POV in that it is pretending that no problems of definition exist. SmithBlue (talk) 03:20, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Wikipedia Manual of Style advises the use of the ethnic definition solely. SmithBlue (talk) 06:22, 30 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

People of Middle Eastern descent category

edit

This category, along with People of Assyrian descent, are already listed in People of Semitic descent which has People of Middle Eastern descent as a parent category. This is in line with WP:SUBCAT for which there is site wide consensus. User:Liz has not given any reason for her reverts.69.248.98.23 (talk) 03:49, 15 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Category:People of Semitic descent is up for deletion at CFD. There was no reason to remove Category:People of Middle Eastern descent. If you remove the ME descent category for these two categories, we need to remove it from Category:People of Jewish descent as well and that is a contentious move. Liz Read! Restore Middle Eastern descent to all 3 categories then (Jewish, Arab, and Assyrian). If Semitic descent is not deleted, then leave it as it is.69.248.98.23 (talk) 01:54, 16 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
