comment from 2012 edit

Note: I recently went through an made sure that all of the 'Health in Country' articles were also categorized within a continent. The continents used are as follows:

Because the sub-regional categorizations already existed for Caribbean and Central America, I kept those, but I don't think additional sub-regional categorizations would be all that useful at this point. There are a few countries (like Russia) which end up in both Europe and Asia for example. --Karl.brown (talk) 23:56, 4 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Continental sub-categorization edit

An editor recently reverted some changes I had made. I had intended to remove the Category:Health in Southeast Asia sub-continental breakdown. The reason I was proposing to remove this was because the other Asian sub-regional categorizations had not been created, and I found they might be of dubious value. In addition, all of the 'Health in X' pages already have a template for 'Health in Asia' which includes all Asian countries, so I felt looking at them all together would be more useful.

In any case I'd like to open the discussion - what do people think? Should we break down all of the continents by their sub-regions, perhaps as defined by the UN? See here for example: United_Nations_geoscheme? It doesn't make sense, IMHO, to only have Category:Health in Southeast Asia if we don't have Category:Health in South Asia and others. Personally, I like the current scheme, which I listed above - the only exceptions being Caribbean and Central America, because those two regions are often not thought of as part of 'North America'. --KarlB (talk) 16:30, 9 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Please discuss this at WP:CFD. It is inappropriate to empty categories without going there first. Nyttend (talk) 16:37, 9 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
