Edible? edit

It seems quite odd that something like Category:Christmas tree farming would be a sub-sub category of "Edible plants". Who eats Christmas trees? User:Murderbike not signed in.

Various species of pine are indeed edible, both seeds, inner bark and the needles are sometimes used for tea. They have a fairly high vitamin C content. TooManyTooMuch (talk) 11:47, 17 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Agricultural plants edit

Would it be appropriate to put cultivated plants here or alternatively make cultivated plants a sub-category of this one? Mastercampbell (talk) 11:09, 12 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

At first I was inclined to suggest it be a sub-category, but there is some crossover. For instance, Burdock, while generally considered a weed in North America is cultivated for food purposes in some Asian countries. TooManyTooMuch (talk) 11:47, 17 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Regional Listings? edit

I know it would be quite an undertaking, but what do you think about this? As a supplementary index it could very helpful to list plants under countries in which they are found to grow uncultivated. TooManyTooMuch (talk) 11:47, 17 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
