Helpme re Ref error messages

Hiya folks. For some reason, I see 2 red error messages when I view Wikipedia:Alternative_text_for_images - but only from Mozilla Firefox latest v3.6.6. It's fine when I use Internet Explorer 8 though.

Another editor, when I asked him about this, reported that he doesn't see the error messages. Can you see them?

The error messages I see are:

  • Cite error: <ref> tag with name "WCAG20" defined in <references> is not used in prior text. (under ref. 7 in References section).
  • Cite error: <ref> tags exist for a group named "Note", but no corresponding <references group="Note"/> tag was found, which appears after the 2 external links.

My questions are:

  • Q1: Can you see the error messages?
  • Q2: Can you fix them? (I know not how.)
  • Q3: Is this the best way to report such bugs?

Thanks, --Trafford09 (talk) 11:16, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

I don't see them. You will get a larger cross-section of users to see your question if you post at the help desk, though there's nothing wrong with making your request in this manner. Also, a more targeted forum for this question might be WP:VPT. I'm going to leave up the request; maybe someone else will see the error. Question: what browser and what Wikpedia skin are you using?--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 11:56, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. I'm using latest Mozilla Firefox (v3.6.6), and haven't changed any skin, so I imagine I'm using the default. --Trafford09 (talk) 12:13, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
Just tested IE8 - it's fine when I use Internet Explorer 8. (I've amended the text above).
I'm a bit puzzled as to why the error text doesn't appear in IE8 – it ought to as it is important information. Anyway, I've fixed the issues. See here. (Basically I removed the unused "WCAG20" reference, and added the "Note" references group.) AJCham 12:50, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

Yes, very new to editing user talk pages

Hello Trafford09, yes, I'm very new to editing user talk pages. Sorry for getting it wrong before, and thanks for being gentle with me in advising on the best way to do it. And thank you for your kind words about my inline citations and summaries Ernestfax (talk) 09:28, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Re: Coverdale and Page (album) edit

[You asked me]: When you make a change to an article, please provide an edit summary ... or explain why it doesn't apply in your case?

Sorry, I recently figured out how to access a discussion page (and still am not 100% I am doing it correctly) and how to add an edit summary. I will use them in the future. Is there any way I can retroactively add them? Bobglickman (talk) 00:54, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

  1. Stub categories don't count toward whether an article is "categorized". They're meant as maintenance categories, which are supposed to be removed from the article once it's expanded beyond stub length, so they're only temporary — but an article has to be in one or more permanent content categories too. So the article is still considered uncategorized if the only category on it is Category:Buckinghamshire geography stubs, because it's still missing the permanent topic categories.
  2. Actually I do archive my talk page; I just haven't gotten around to putting a link to the archive page on my active talk page. But there's no real rule about that; even if you just delete old posts instead of actively moving them to another archive page, they're still technically archived anyway since a person can always review the page's edit history if necessary.

Hope that helps a bit... Bearcat (talk) 16:44, 16 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the...er, for the thanks. :-) As to the signature, the only reason I have it the way I do is as a reference to the source of the name. "What do they say in Signa?" doesn't quite have the same ring to it, I'm afraid.

I'll give it some thought, see what I can think of that might fit the bill. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 13:29, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Re:Continued flouting of wp:ES#Always provide an edit summary

I do of course respect Wikipedia's consensus, but I don't think that in my case it makes sense to always provide an edit summary. In the majority of cases I only disambiguate one link. As I do this about 200 times a day it seems a little useless for me to always provide an edit summary. Just let me know if you still think that it is necessary for me to do this.   TRBP  talk  11:14, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

Commons - how to search

  Resolved

Hiya all. How could I find the File for a yellow lightbulb? You know, like in the wp:TOTD box, or here Wikipedia:Village_pump - the big yellow one above "Proposals"?

As well as giving me the direct answer, could you also please advise me how I might have found it myself? I've tried searching on WP and wp:Commons, to no avail. What search method would have worked?

Many thanks, Trafford09 (talk) 15:55, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Seasons Greetings

Feedback - large increase in requests

The graph says it all, really; massive increase since we cleared the backlog and introduced a bit better system. As I've said before, it is a 'victim of its own success', I think. Currently, it is pretty backlogged.

Quite a few get missed, as you can see if you flick through the archives - but I don't know what we can do about that, really, other than hope more people give feedback.

The long-term solution would be to keep these editors; so many come to just create one article, and are never heard of again; if just a few of those stayed, and started giving feedback, then we'd have a more workable system.

I suggest discussion in this WT:FEED section. Cheers!

(I've send this message out to a small number of people that I think/hope will be interested; people who have given feedback, etc. if wrong, apologies, let me know.)

I suppose I should've timed this message at 10:10:10 too, but frankly, I can't be arsed. You know how it is.

Did you know... that tenten in Japaense writing are a little wiggly thing, a bit like a quotation-mark, which makes e.g. "ka" (か) into "ga" (が) or "fu" (ふ) into "bu" (ぶ) ?

So, take time out to have a bit of a giggle.

Sorry if you were offended by my lack of edit summary, but since my edit consisted of inserting the word "anagram", I considered it to be not too far from a minor edit; I really don't see how anyone could have mistaken it for vandalism... AnonMoos (talk) 01:02, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Answered on user's talk page. Trafford09 (talk) 22:06, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

OK, but I have 5,997 pages on my watchlist, and I find that edit summaries by others don't save me much work, except for certain kinds of bot edits and vandalism reverts. I add appropriate edit summaries for major edits and insertions and deletions of material which for one reason or another has been controversial among some in the past; but being obsessive about edit summaries for minor edits and uncontroversial workmanlike semi-minor edits (moving a few words around, rephrasing for clarity, inserting the word "anagram", etc.) would significantly distract my attention away from actually making the edits themselves. Time to put an end to the tension and start fresh

Hello. I thought it was time that I explain to you why I, for the most part, don't include edit summaries. It is not because I am against consensus at all; rather, it is because I simply forget to, which I am not happy about. I am trying my hardest to includes summaries with every edit - Cartoon Boy (talk) 22:14, 23 October 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.137.220.140 (talk)

Hello, CB. Good to talk. Always happy to start afresh. Nice to see you now supplying ESs. If you're clear about not wanting to forget them, you know you could always take advantage - as many of us do (myself included) - to avoid accidentally leaving edit summaries blank, of selecting "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" on the Editing tab of your user preferences.
The other thing we registered users have access to is the Help:Minor edit flag, which you might find sometimes useful. Regards, Trafford09 (talk) 04:38, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi there.

Re. the European Go champs, I wrote to a couple of people to see if they could donate some pictures to us.

I explained how they could;

The dudes at eurogotv replied, saying they can email us some pics if we choose which ones we'd like; they'll mail a boilerplate release with specific pictures attached.

Sounds good...so we need to pick a few.

I will forward you a copy of the email right now...let me know which pics you think would be good, thanks!  Chzz  ►  20:21, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi Trafford. What actually happened here? Did the ANI you filed Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/IncidentArchive636#User:Danielwork - ignoring consensus & others' talk on 9 September simply fizzle out? Something needs to be done. The only thing that can be done, regrettably, will be a block for a few days. I think rather ethan ANI, the best thing is to invite some admins to take an informal look at the situation.--Kudpung (talk) 10:47, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

I think with editors like this usually a short block should be enough to get their attention and get them to start using talk pages (let's start at talk pages before moving on to edit summaries, I think). The user's edits aren't overly positive or negative and appear pretty gnomish (although upon further inspection, there are a few questionable ones) so a ban might be a bit hasty. Cyprus

Agree that Cyprus is a member of the European Union; there's no question about that. However, it is physically located 100% in Asia, as the Europe article will tell you. There are a lot of other articles that say the same thing (and none of them were edited by me). Cyprus' EU membership does not physically make it European, just as Israel's political/sporting ties have no impact on it's location. There have been several discussions on this in the past, with the conclusion that physiography is the only real criteria we can use. If Iceland (not a member of the EU) were to join the South-West Pacific Fa-La-La Union tomorrow, would we list it under Oceania? jasepl (talk) 12:51, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi jasepl - hmm - yes, maybe I was hasty. I'd always thought of Cyprus as being in Europe, with its location as a Mediterranean island of course.
I wasn't aware of previous discussions or conclusion, and would be interested to read them. Would you have a link?
Cyprus seems to be a bit of an anomaly. I notice that, whilst it's to be found in List of sovereign states and dependent territories in Europe, the note there, at List_of_European_countries#cite_note-Cyprus-1 posits that "Cyprus is in Asia but it has sociopolitical connections with Europe.".
I followed your link to where it says "Cyprus is sometimes considered [a] transcontinental country". An interesting case. Thank you for your background info.. Regards, Trafford09 (talk) 13:19, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for Welcome but I am Wiki Frustrated

Hi Trafford09. I am new and appreciate the welcome. Maybe I am of the minority but I have found Wikipedia to be rather frustrating. While I certainly have tried to adhere to the rules (of which there are many and they are rather confusing) and have been respectful when communicating with admins, I guess I fail to understand one simple facet of this format.

  • Why is is okay for people to create and edit a page about a person or person's work, yet when that person edits their own content, their information is taken down?
  • I understand the NPOV and the idea that it is not to be used solely for "advertising" purposes, but how is it that a person cannot edit their own page for clarity and factual content.
  • How is it that a person working (in a non-paid position I might add), for a person with a page, is not allowed to edit the content? I'm sorry, but I cannot wrap my head around this concept.

I guess until I can, Wikipedia is not the place for me. I would welcome any info or light you may be able to shed on this concept. Thanks again for the welcome.Anna laffey (talk) 14:53, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi Anna (hope it's ok to call you that). Glad you liked the welcome - it's a great shame that nobody welcomed you until today - we're slipping! A few things to say for now: Thanks for your contributions, and for your being bold with them. Sorry you've come up against adverse / misleading rules. I'm not an admin. - just an editor like you (although I know & understand most of the guidelines). I'll be glad to try & help you fully & explain in any way I can.
You've asked some very good questions - but I feel I should take a brief time to check your previous edits & discussions, so that I'm in the best position to answer them most appropriately.
For now, I've separated out your main questions.
I'll be back with proper answers - it may take me 24 hours, as I have some prior commitments, but answer them I certainly shall - we don't want to lose a keen editor. Thanks for raising the issues here, and watch this space!
Regards, Trafford09 (talk) 15:16, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Thanks so much! I really thought that Wiki was a collabrative effort yet my experience has felt very adversarial. I have used it often for info but only months ago began editing (or trying to edit) an author/filmmaker's page for clarity and content. Apparently, because I "know" this person (actually working in a role of unpaid intern) I cannot edit the page and ultimately the page was deleted. I was really not trying to create a conflict, I was looking for help. I'm not sure I want to attempt to work on any other pages as this has been a less than positive experience. Again, thanks for your assistance, I look forward to your thoughts. Anna laffey (talk) 15:57, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Edit on Meat Loaf Page

Hi. I recently updated the page on Meat Loaf to correct a grammatical error on that page regarding an accident that occurred to him. The page was changed back to the incorrect grammar yesterday. Specifically, it states that he was hit with a "shot put". This is incorrect, since the object he was hit with was a "shot", the heavy metal ball used in the sport. "Put" is the act of throwing with a pushing motion, and is not a part of the name of the object with which he was hit. [1]

Stating that he was hit on the head with a "shot put" is akin to saying he was hit on the head with a "baseball throw", which of course nobody would say. Rather, one would simply say that he was hit on the head with a baseball, or by a thrown baseball, if one wished to distinguish it from, say, a batted ball. I realize the source article cited also has this term wrong, and it is very commonly used incorrectly, but that does not mean it needs to be incorrect here as well. Perhaps you should change it to "struck on the head during a shot put event" if you do not care for my edit which was simply to correct the order of the words to "put shot".

Portal boxes go in the 'See also' section

Blank section are not encouraging. Plus no indication on where it should be go if no "see also" section. Hence, i have to say "ignore all rules". --Aleenf1 12:18, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

I think we're on a 'slippery slope' once people start choosing to ignore all rules.
There's nothing wrong with a == See also == with just a portal box in it.
The question was raised & answered here.

Hi Trafford, if you want to use a card with Christmas rather than Xmas feel free to copy one of my cards to your userspace and modify it. PS when you use it you do need the double curly brackets. ϢereSpielChequers 14:31, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi WSC. Thanks for your note & hint re {{}}. Sorry if I was over-bold. I'm happy to use your card rather than my own - that way I give credit to the author.
One thing, though - I tried it with the {{}}, but it didn't seem to work here. Is that just because the recipient has an unusual talk page format? Either way, is there an easy method for me to fix the card's display?

Just a note in passing from a talk page stalker; please remember that it's considered good practice to write a personal note when leaving comments or reminders to well-established users, rather than using templates. I noticed that you left a templated note about using edit summaries to User:Armbrust. Marlborough

[With reference to the following that you posted on my talk page:]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Marlborough College. Doing so helps everyone understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. Trafford09 (talk) 18:04, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

I was a student at Marlborough during the 1950s, while Thomas Garnett was the Master (Headmaster). As I was glancing through the Wikipedia article about the college a few days ago, I noticed that his name had been mis-spelled in a link, with the result that an article about someone named Tommy Garrett was shown in error. So I simply fixed the spelling of the name, which made the link work properly. It didn't seem like a big enough deal to warrant a long explanation. DOwenWilliams (talk) 20:04, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

If you don't have anything constructive to say, please don't say anything at all. Your repeated templating of this editor demanding they use an edit summary is bordering on harassment. There's no policy that mandates the use of edit summaries. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:22, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

Harry, thanks for discussing this matter - I appreciated our chat. I take comfort that you too believe edit summaries are important. It was good of you with hindsight to say you felt the rebuke on my talk page may have a bit sterner than needed.
For my part, I accept that to the general onlooker my earlier comments may appear to simply be "kicking a man when he's down" - something hard to defend. Despite my own frustration with the editor involved, I probably should have resisted the temptation to intervene like that, even though I'd tried on some occasions to use a non-template approach with him.
Ah well - Wikipedia goes on. Regards, Trafford09 (talk) 09:55, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

"Policy agreed by consensus is..."

Hello there.

While I understand you mean well, personally I find you are outright confrontational in your approach to attempt to force other users to use edit summaries. The reason I linked to a rather old edit, was that it rather concerns me. It is not policy to provide an edit summary. I, too, shall quote the page; "It is good practice to fill in the Edit summary field". It is a help page. An information page. It details the tool and how to use it. There is no obligation to do so. It may not have been intentional, but some of your older edits could easily be read as suggesting otherwise.

Good practise; nothing more, nothing less. I don't believe for a second that a comment such as "Do you have any comment to make, in your defense?" is in any way justified. Please try to avoid driving off well meaning contributors who are doing nothing wrong. Edit summaries are preferred, not mandatory and you need to remember this. I apologize if this message aggravates you, but you appear to be unusally open to disussion (I wish more were like you in this regard!) and as I say, such edits - which you have not made in some time - are quite worrying to me. If you have already decided to avoid attempting others to make use of edit summaries, then I do of course apologize. A F K When Needed 11:40, 16 March 2011 (UTC)

No, it appears to have been wrong from the start, and according to the list at Wikipedia:Tip of the day, it appears to be intended to be about tommorrow's featured article. Thank you for pointing out the error. Ouch, it's been in error since 2006. Here's the repaired tip:

HRW changes

Wish me luck. I was being bold, and basically making "HRW" into a redirect to Human Rights Watch,

as suggested some time ago by another editor, in HRW's Talk page.

My cunning master plan involved the following:

  • Change "HRW (disambiguation)" (initially a redirect to "HRW") to "HRW (temp)".   Done.
  • Change its Talk page accordingly.
  • Change "HRW" (initially a list of 3 different HRWs) to "HRW (disambiguation)".   Done.
  • Change its Talk page accordingly.
  • Change "HRW (temp)" to "HRW" and make it a redirect to Human Rights Watch.   Done.
  • Change its Talk page accordingly.
  • Check the integrity of the changes, incl. what links to HRW etc..   Done - well - sort of - too many to change, for me and now,

but I think there's no problem (let me know if you have advice or concerns - ta).

If my plan had a flaw (as I was treading new ground), please let me know, here - thanks. Trafford09 (talk) 22:33, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

will likely

Hi! I saw your edit at Wikipedia:Lists of common misspellings/Grammar and Misc. I agree that "will likely" isn't a common usage in "English" English, at least the way I speak it, but isn't it common in American English? If it is valid in the US then I don't think it should be mentioned in the Grammar and Misc list. Take a look at WP:ENGVAR if you haven't met that guideline already. -- John of Reading (talk) 21:19, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

Hi John. Thanks for your interest, answers, comment & help. Yes, I was roughly aware of such guidelines, and have taken a quick gander at them again. What I thought, though, was that if there's a form that's equally acceptable to both US+UK eyes & ears, then it would seem sensible & non-controversial to employ such a compromise. Am I wrong on that? Might I be being too bold? I've changed it a few times when I've come across it in articles, & never noticed any reversion or adverse reaction. I'm not seeking to deny its validity as a US phrase.
PS: I've not used AWB before myself. If an editor makes an edit such as the one above that I have (if such an edit were to stand), then would AWB somehow do the 3,081 changes 'automatically', without any further intervention from said editor? Thanks again, Trafford09 (talk) 21:50, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
You are right. I've added a link to WP:COMMONALITY at "will likely" in Wikipedia:Lists of common misspellings/Grammar and Misc. I'm currently on the letter "T" in this list, so will probably reach "will likely" sometime in 2013.
AWB users have to make the edits one at a time, checking each one. I've spent hundreds of hours on this in the last couple of years, and have written about it here if you're interested. -- John of Reading (talk) 07:42, 11 September 2011 (UTC)

Anchors

Whatever the case may be about anchors, I moved the anchor because the section title was not being formatted properly (just plain text under the "Shape" section and lacking an entry in the table of contents). I saw that all of the other section titles in the article had the anchor above, so I assumed that was just how it had to be for it to work. Primalmoon (talk) 11:42, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

T:WP Strat Games

It was deprecated because it was added to WP:VG as a task force. Where T:WP Strat Games was called, the |Strategy=Yes parameter was added to T:WPVG and then T:WP Strat Games was removed. Hence, deprecated. --Izno (talk) 23:42, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

Thanks. But I'd have thought that VG and Strat.G are not natural subsets of each other. It seems odd, for instance, to treat Go (game) as a VG rather than a Strat.; when played over the board, it's not a VG of course. Trafford09 (talk) 23:49, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
I think it was the case that the scope as it was was so overwhelmingly a subset of the video games that it was subsumed. As it is, board games such as Go have a WikiProject dedicated to them (WP:Board and table games or something like that), and I think any games which can't be found in the video games section of strategy probably end up in that wikiproject. Not that there can't be overlap, but...
Either way, I know there was consensus about it from the VG standpoint, but I wasn't able to find it. /shrug --Izno (talk) 04:40, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

'Puddle iron' versus 'wrought' iron

Your insistence on using 'puddle iron' and your statement that wrought iron is a product of the Bessemer process are most odd. I am fairly familiar with the history of the iron and steel industry and cannot think of one instance in the many books I have read on the subject that uses the term 'puddle iron'. The puddling furnace was invented by Henry Cort in the 1780s and became the standard way of producing wrought iron, replacing the previous fining processes. I suggest you read the WikiPedia article on wrought iron <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wrought_Iron#The_Aston_process>. Whatever process is used for the production of wrought iron, it is always called wrought iron. I think you may be confusing the properties of wrought iron with those of mild steel, which long ago replaced wrought iron but which is popularly, but incorrectly, still called wrought iron.

The reason that they used wrought iron produced by the puddling process for the Eiffel Tower was that the Bessemer process (1856 onwards), though capable of producing excellent iron from pig iron containing little or no phosphorous, was quickly shown to produce a product far too brittle when phosphoric iron ore was used, and it took many years before this problem was solved. Henry Bessemer in his autobiography gives a very striking and detailed account of these early disappointments. I suggest you read it. <http://www.history.rochester.edu/ehp-book/shb/hb11.htm> and subsequent chapters. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tallorno (talkcontribs) 20:17, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for September 8

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Hayle Railway, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Gwinear (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Help me

Oh gurus: I'm pretty sure there's a template (?) to print:

  • "[xyz] links to here."

Am I right &, if so, what's it called, please? Trafford09 (talk) 19:14, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

Are you perhaps referring to what links here special pages? There is also {{what links here}}, which produces a link to the what links here pages. GorillaWarfare (talk) 19:40, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

I understand that the article is allowed to remain, as the format matches that of, say, loose cannon. Trafford09 (talk) 22:38, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

Re: Portals

Hi Trafford 09! Thanks for the message. I thought it was ok to link portals either in "See also" or in "External links"? I've certainly seen them placed in both places. Either is fine with me, anyway. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 21:03, 25 November 2013 (UTC)

Hi @Espresso Addict:. Well, I've been guided by Wikipedia:Portal#How to add portal links to articles, which suggests: "These links go in the See also section.". Regards, Trafford09 (talk) 21:20, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, I haven't read that in ages. MoS also seems to support "See also" as the usual location, now I find the correct subpage. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 21:34, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
But anyway, you certainly improved the articles & portals by linking them. Thanks again, Trafford09 (talk) 21:36, 25 November 2013 (UTC)

Phenocryst inline citations

On 8 April 2013‎ you tagged the Phenocryst article for its lack of inline citations, a good move. The article has been rewritten with some inline cites, and I'd appreciate it if you could take a look and mark any spots that you feel would significantly benefit from a pinpoint citation using, ideally, Template:Citation needed. Thanks in advance. --Bejnar (talk) 21:31, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

Ah, great - that's much better. Kudos to you. BTW, I know nothing about rocks!   Done. Trafford09 (talk) 23:23, 11 December 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the new help. I corrected "Charlse" to "Charles", and added several citations to the previously unreferenced section. I added a new image as well. Again, thanks. --Bejnar (talk) 16:56, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

SUL tool query

Bonjour, et je m'excuse d'ecrire en anglais, mais c'est bcp plus facile pour moi!

Hi. I was in en.wp, in an editor's wikipedia contributions. At the bottom, there was a link to SUL.

I clicked on it, thinking it might tell me what SUL meant. Sadly, its title said SUL in big letters, but gave no description of its meaning, nor link to the same. I've since, being WP-savvy, been to wp:SUL which explains it. But don't you think that the tool should have at least a description of SUL, at least expanding it from its 3 letters? Also, a link to wp:sul would be great.

Thanks for your time.

Hi. In fact I'm coming back from a period of inactivity. I'm now available to help you. Can you please provide me the page where the definition of SUL would be helpful ? We could at least have a link to wp:SUL. Thank you for your suggestion. Regards, -- Quentinv57 09:43, 8 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi Quentin. thanks for making contact. Sorry for my delay - I've been taking a Wikibreak. To clarify my point, please do the following. First, bring up a page of a user's contributions - say Special:Contributions/Trafford09. Go to the bottom of the page of contributions, and you will see a line of links: " Trafford09: Subpages User rights Edit count Edit summary search Articles created Global contributions / log SUL / accounts".

Then click on the letters 'SUL'. That brings up a page [2] entitled 'SUL'.

My suggestion is that that page would say, instead of just 'SUL', 'Single User Login (SUL)'. Also, the letters'(SUL)' could then be a link to Wikipedia:Unified_login. Hope all that makes sense? Cheers, Trafford09 (talk) 11:45, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
