Hello,

Is there any chance you could create the roundel on its own as a .PNG file?

Proposed deletion of Friars Walk, Reading

The article Friars Walk, Reading has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of notability provided; merely existing and being a shopping center is insufficient--need sources to verify mall is notable.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Template:Cmglee London Olympic Park from John Lewis.jpg

Hi BaldBoris, I've noticed that you've copied the contents of Template:Cmglee London Olympic Park from John Lewis.jpg to their respective London Olympics articles and proposed its deletion. Is there a reason for this? The purpose of the template was to enable the caption, layout and size of the image to be easily and consistently updated on all pages transcluding it. With the current set-up, each copy must be separately maintained. Regards, cmɢʟee 19:13, 18 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

I understand the idea, but it's just not done. One reason is that the link of the article which it is placed in will be bold. BaldBoris 19:34, 18 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Pictures

Would you mind leaving the sizing of picture files as "thumbnails" when there is clearly room for them to be at that size?. The only sort of files that work well as "uprights" are those with very little detail to convey. Thi is not the case in the pictures of the Olympics Opening Ceremony, where the two vertical pics are crowded with detail and benefit by being seen large.

Also, this may be entirely wrong, but I have been reliably informed that using the format "upright followed by percentage" (as is used in the introductory pic of that article), gives greater flexibility to viewers using iphones and other media than the standard 300px format. Which is why the format was arranged like that. Amandajm (talk) 07:36, 31 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Duplicate material in 2012 Summer Olympic development

At 13:26, 19 July 2012, you added material to section "Financing", apparently from another article. Much of this added material duplicates information that was already the identically named section below that, a subsection of "Opinions and comments". Perhaps you could clean up the duplication. Non-free rationale for File:The Old Gits.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:The Old Gits.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. edit warring

hello;

why are you edit-warring with the user(s) plothands55 & shortmeets12? i looked through the history & i'm not clear what the problem(s) is/are?

you have also massively exceeded the 3-revert rule. the other person(s) is/are noobs, so i don't expect them to know better (yet), BUT i do expect better from an experieced user! also, you provided no meaningful input on why you were reverting their work.

i'm restoring the photos they added, based on my judgement of their merits. if you want to dispute it with we, we can go the full proccess.

i'm sorry if this message seems a bit blunt/cross; but if you can explain why you're having this fight, it would be helpful in understanding your actions here.

The link isn't the official website of the article and the {{Premier League}} template dosen't belong there. Have a look at 2012–13 Manchester United F.C. season for a good example. BaldBoris 18:42, 4 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hatnotes about Millennium things

Hi Boris, I noted that you reverted my two disambiguating hatonotes on Millennium Dome and Millenium Stadium as "not needed"[1][2]. Presumably from the perspective of someone who lives in the UK it is improbable that anyone would confuse these two things - both being quite large and all... Nevertheless, this is precisely what I did just today when I was looking for a big white tent in London and came instead to a rugby stadium in Cardiff! There's no way to tell whether this is me being daft or if this is a common mistake, but I thought it was a reasonable and uncontroversial thing to disambiguate given that they're both big, famous, UK stadia that are called "millennium". Would you care to reconsider your revert? Wittylama 15:51, 31 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry but they are two very different things. Especially now the Dome is known as the The O₂. BaldBoris 01:19, 1 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

You asked for {{Michael Palin}} to be deleted because it duplicates {{Michael Palin's Trips}}, and I've deleted it per your request. In the future, if you create a page and quickly realise that it shouldn't have been created, please tag the page with {{db-g7}} — simply duplicating another template isn't generally a good reason for speedy deletion, and I almost declined to delete it until I noticed that you were the only contributor. Hi BaldBoris. I see you're doing some things with the article today, and I only have a short time available to me today anyway (going out this evening). Would you be happy if I don't edit it today but return tomorrow and try to complete the copy edit then? --Stfg (talk) 12:24, 27 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

OK no problem. Thanks for taking it on. BaldBoris 13:38, 27 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

() If there is more content to add, you must of course add it, but I must say that I'm quite annoyed that you let me spend two days copy editing the article only to go all over it adding new grammar errors and WP:OVERLINK. It's a complete waste of my time. I corrected the first two grammar errors, but that's your lot. I'm removing the article from my watch list now, and also the {{GOCE}} banner from the talk page, which please don't restore. --Stfg (talk) 09:42, 30 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

I have have unlinked the unnecessary and tried to revert anything I changed from your copy edit. The 2012 section needed trimming, so some of your work may have been removed. I'm sorry if you feel you've wasted your time but I didn't realise how much was missing from the article before requesting the copy edit. As for the new grammar errors, well I did my best. Thank you. There's no need to do without the new stuff. Content is king, and as I said, if there's something encyclopedic to include, it should be included. The only thing is to plan the effort to make good use of people's time. There's no point tweaking prose that's going to change, so any copy edit should come very late in the project. Good luck. --Stfg (talk) 13:54, 30 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:Team Type 1-Sanofi logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Team Type 1-Sanofi logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:13, 7 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
