how do i stack userboxes, if you look at my page youll see the two i want to stack. Allaoii talk 18:53, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- Done - see if that helps or not! - Ahunt (talk) 21:46, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- no, i want them to be back where they were, with they wikiwolfcub and the bisexual userboxes stacked with the bisexual userbox on the bottom, thanks for trying to help Allaoii talk 21:56, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- Done. Okay I did that. See how you like it. Once you see the template syntax there, feel free to play around with it yourself to get the desired effect. - Ahunt (talk) 22:08, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- how do i change where the stacked userboxes are? Allaoii talk 22:47, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- That template will only stack them on the right side of your page, unless another page element, like an image interferes with it. It can also be set to "left" instead. There is documentation that explains that all at Template:Userboxtop. - Ahunt (talk) 22:50, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- i cant figure it out, can you maybe tell me what all the options do, then i should be able to figure it out, sorry for needing so much help, im still a noob after several months. Allaoii talk 18:33, 24 February 2023 (UTC)
- Perhaps it would be easier for you to explain what you are trying to do and I can see if the template can do that? - Ahunt (talk) 00:55, 25 February 2023 (UTC)
- im trying to get the userboxes where they would be normally but with them stacked and the bisexual one on the bottom Allaoii talk 22:48, 25 February 2023 (UTC)
- Well normally userboxes are displayed on a user page stacked on the right side, which is what this template does by default. It can be set to stack them on the left side, however. - Ahunt (talk) 23:45, 25 February 2023 (UTC)
- but i dont know how to work the template Allaoii talk 19:02, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
- Perhaps I can configure it for you if you can better describe how you want the page to look. - Ahunt (talk) 19:05, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
- how it was before, exept the wikiwolfcub and the bisexual are stacked with the bisexual on the bottom Allaoii talk 00:37, 1 March 2023 (UTC)

Ah, okay. I tried it just using "break tags" instead and that worked somewhat (see your page history) and then left your page with the template again, but set to left and no top label. I think that may be closer to what you wanted, but see what you think. - Ahunt (talk) 01:08, 1 March 2023 (UTC)

Question
How many userboxes can fit onto a userpage. Catfurball (talk) 19:49, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
- That is limited by the number of transclusions. There is no fixed number of userboxes, as it depends on complexity, see Help:Template limits. We have hit the transclusion limit on userbox gallery pages, when they break at the bottom and have to be split. - Ahunt (talk) 19:55, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
Userbox
The userbox User:Whalefan26/JohnHunterNemechek will not connect to the article John Hunter Nemechek. I do not know why this is happening, can someone please fix it. Catfurball (talk) 00:09, 12 May 2023 (UTC)
- I fixed it. The user accidentally put an extra c in his last name. -- KomradeKalashnikov (talk) 02:12, 12 May 2023 (UTC)

Proposed move for Yy templates
The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
I've suggested moving Template:Yy (WhyWhy) and its ilk to more meaningful names. The original template names will be retained as shortcut redirects so existing pages will not need to be changed. My proposed moves are as follows:
- Template:Yytop → Template:Userbox table start
- Template:Yy → Template:Userbox table entry
- Template:Yycat → Template:Userbox table category
- Template:Yytxt → Template:Userbox table text
- Template:Yytab → Template:Userbox table link
- Template:Yytabcities → Template:Userbox table regional link
- Template:Yywp → Template:Userbox table project link
- Template:Yyp → Template:Userbox table portal link
- Template:Yynb → Template:Userbox table noticeboard link
- Template:Yyend → Template:Userbox table end
I've posted a proposed documentation page for these new names at User:Buaidh/Userbox table entry. A record of our on-going discussion is shown at Template talk:Yy. Please give me your comments and suggestions for any changes. Thanks, Buaidh talk e-mail 20:24, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
- Support, but this is in the wrong spot: These proposed names are fine with me. I do wish that you would stop creating duplicate discussions, though. The original proposal is at Template talk:Yy § Full names. According to the process described at WP:RMPM, the requested-move discussion should be on one of the concerned talk pages, which would be Template talk:Yy. Please do try to read the policies I link. — voidxor 20:41, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
Closing the above - the discussions are already at Template talk:Yy. No need to fragment the discussions. We can just treat this as a notification to the Wikiproject and move on. - jc37 00:58, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- UPDATE: I have formalized the discussion as a requested move here. Everybody is welcome to comment. — voidxor 00:18, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
Have I made this userbox gallery correctly?
Split out from Wikipedia:Userboxes/Transportation. - Tbf69 🛈 🗩 11:44, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
- Yes! I just reviewed it all and it looks like you got it all done right! Thanks for doing that. The only thing I did was create a redirect from Wikipedia:Userboxes/Trains — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ahunt (talk • contribs) 12:29, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
Help
I created the Userbox User:Crainsaw/Hessian dialect

Categorization cleanup searches
I've came up with a couple of search queries that can help fix incorrect categorization of userboxes and user pages.
- Search for finding userpages under Category:Userboxes: I couldn't figure out a way to search only in top-level userpages (i.e. without slashes in the full page name), so I've came up with a workaround: intersect the search with a category for Wikipedians. For example, Category:User en-N has 41000 pages in it:
insource:/\[\[Category:[A-Za-z ]* user templates/ incategory:"User en-N"
. This trick is best used with any big subcategory of Category:Wikipedians. I've gone through English language categories (User en-*), also German and Spanish. I also used Category:Wikipedians in the United States and a couple of other big categories for countries under Category:Wikipedians by location. - Search for finding userboxes with missing
<noinclude>...</noinclude>
wrapping of the categorization:insource:/\[\[Category:[^\]\|]* user templates/ -insource:/noinclude/ -intitle:doc
Example of fixes for issues found using the searches above:
Maybe someone else can figure out a better search query, or a WP:PETSCAN, or a WP:QUARRY query. —andrybak (talk) 21:49, 26 May 2023 (UTC)
Donation userbox
I was impressed with the OP at this Help desk request, who, in the context of asking their question, mentioned that they donate monthly to Wikipedia. I wanted to respond to them that aside from their original question, they could also add the "donation userbox" to their user page, and headed over to Wikipedia:Userboxes/Galleries/alphabetical to find it. Surprise: no such userbox in the gallery! (A generic search did turn up just one user template: Template:User wikipedia/DonorWM; maybe just improve/expand that one, and promote it to template space?)
Can we help out this user (and may many others) have a userbox to mention their donations? I'm thinking something with some basic text, with a param that lets you alter it, e.g., 'I {{{text|donate}}} to Wikipedia!
', with examples like, |text=donated
, |text=donate regularly
etc., or maybe the more sober text at the user template?
Artwork: I looked at Commons, but couldn't find much interesting artwork at Commons, but there was this 'Donate to Wikipedia' button (seems a bit old skool to me), and a few others. (Maybe the WMF logo is good enough.) It would be kinda cool, to be able to have a clickable button, image, or string right in the userbox that would link them straight to the wmf:donate page. If you come up with something, please let Cannizaro394 know about it, or ping me and I'll notify them. Thanks! Mathglot (talk) 20:37, 25 September 2023 (UTC) (subscribed)
- @Mathglot: This userbox seems to be similar to what you're looking for.

- There are other userboxes related to the topic of Wikimedia Foundation donations at Wikipedia:Userboxes/Wikipedia/Miscellaneous. Also, Template:User wikipedia/DonorWM is already in template space.
Holo Boxes
I boldly made a bunch of Userboxes, but I'm not sure if they are alright... they are at this section of the second Interests Page, I got the logo at Wikimedia Commons, I didn't upload it, it was already there, but I just want to make sure they are ok! —Nanami73 talk 12:08, 21 December 2023 (UTC)
- They seem fine, don't worry. It's fine to use images from Wikimedia Commons that you didn't upload. That's why it's there, after all. -- KomradeKalashnikov (talk) 20:37, 29 December 2023 (UTC)

'self promo'
Questain on the rules of adding ones userboxes to the gallery. So, i've used UBX maker to make three Userboxes. and I've added two to their respective places on the "music gallery" Place. (Example HERE where I added my King Nothing Metallica Userbox to it's place. But, i do have a question; is that breaking Wikipedia's rule's on Conflict-of-editing? Since those say not to add things if I am involved/have/done something important regarding that thing (so if I worked at a KFC, I cant go edit and say "KFC is the best ever!!"), and while I don't have any connection to Metallica or the Beatles, I do enjoy them both. AND I made those UBX's, so I'd be editing something created by me. So does that break any rules? (Sorry for shitty framing and grammar, I just didn't know how this questain should be written.)
