Banner image

I think the project could really do with using a different image in the banner template. For a start, IPL does not use a red ball, so it is somewhat misleading, and for another thing it makes it hard to distinguish at a glance from the WP:Cricket banner. Project Coordinator needed

As Yasht101 retired; we're looking for a user who could really dedicate his time to WikiProject IPL. If you want to become a coordinator, put yourself down the list. I'm not going to make it complicated, just a coordinator and a vice coordinator, and lead coordinator is enough to lead a WikiProject, at least for now. I'm listing down the duties each has to perform.

Lead Coordinator

• General administration of the WikiProject.
• Can fix a "Task of the Month".
• Ask coordinators and vice coordinators to know the general statistics of the project.
• Award distribution for Task of Month.

Coordinator

• General watch over the project to make sure it is not inactive.
• Award distribution for members who completed the task of the month.
• Create a monthly news about WikiProject IPL, to ensure that no problems arise.

Vice- Coordinator

• Award distribution for Task of the Month.
• Invitation of members to WikiProject IPL.
• Know which user is and which user is not, performing Task of the Month and which users are performing the Task of the Moth. A monthly record should be kept.

I think the third responsibility of the Vice-Coordinator is a bit unfair, it is the responsibility of the participant to log his actions time to time, not of the VC. ♛♚★Vaibhav Jain★♚♛ ^{Talk Email} 09:28, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

I don't think there is really a likelihood that any effort is going to be made to delete this project. We folks at WP:Cricket are mainly traditionalists at heart, and are still trying to get to grips with this 50-over lark, let alone the idea of a Twenty20! :P But, no, in seriousness, I don't think you have anything to concern yourselves with. I think the overlap between the two projects made it natural for attention to be paid, as anything that this project would concern itself with would also come under the auspicies of the Cricket project. As such, you'll always receive attention from WP:Cricket, and I'm sure at times we'll disagree. But on the whole, a project can only be a good thing; just don't expect to make big changes to generic cricket templates and the such without us getting involved! I don't completely agree. Don't worry, we have champions league T20 in which we can make something out for the newsletter. For now, take me in for this month's newsletter (I reckon to publish after the 27th) and then don't do it. We'll again make out 2 more newsletters at the time of CLT20 (1 at the start, 1 at the end) and then wait for IPL to restart. When it restarts, we can get maximum 3-4 newsletters. Then repeat it again... But in between also we can publish more newsletters, for e.g., new placeholders are elected. I resign as Vice-coordinator

Not willing to leave but have to. I have been ill since 1 and a half month now. At the start, I thought that it was normal fever but it has been deteriorating. Due to some unknown reason, I have been getting weak with days passing. Now after a long time, I have done few medical tests and I m awaiting results. Few tests gave out a report stating that my lungs are getting weak and they are in a worse situation. I m having trouble in normal day life also and thus I cannot concentrate on a single topic. I don't know that when will I get cured or how serious is my disease but for now, I have to quit. I'll be still there if you guys are in need of some help (like copyediting GAs, etc.). IRC Meetup

I'd recommend it on a Saturday 9:10pm or later. You see, people are busy, so having it on weekdays can create a lot of problems. IRC meetup successful

The IRC meetup, which went on for approximately 50 minutes, was fairly successful. Seven editors, namely Vibhijain, TheSpecialUser, StrikeEagle, Titodutta, BPositive, Dipankan001 and Dee03, were a part of it. As per the meetup, it was decided that articles about specific controversies, IPL coaches, IPL playing notable local cricketers and articles of the form "team ABC at season 123", will be created. Similar to the previous discussion, that took place at this page, it was a general consensus that articles of the form "player ABC at IPL" should not be created. Chennai Super Kings in 2011

Just to notify that I have created an article called Chennai Super Kings in 2011. The article covers CSK's IPL and CLT20 campaign in 2011 and also the pre-IPL player signings. It has been created on the outline of the county season articles. The lead needs some more prose. I would really appreciate someone adding references to the article. And if any important points are missing please add them too.

I will try to create such articles for "CSK in different years" in the coming days. So after we have an article for all five seasons (2008-2012), we can remove the excessive tables and detailing of season-wise summary in the CSK article and link them to the new articles. Hello members of WikiProject IPL. I, Dipankan001, had long trusted you and I have complete faith that you are one of those valuable 15 members who help in running this project, along with us. We're nothing without you. And one of our precious, rare gems was User:Vibhijain, the coordinator of WP:IPL. It was because of him that the project had reached to new heights. Without him, we wouldn't have the Assessment log. And many more to mention. Without him, the project is nothing. But, unfortunately Vibhijain is considering retirement. I was shocked by this fact, I just came to know today. His "Yo" and "Done " would be forever missed along with his cute smile. People may think he's a kid, but, at 14, he has achieved more maturity than anyone else has did. Please, members, try to cheer him up, we would all be dead without him and we'll terribly miss him. If you have the heart, please, cheer him up. Once again, I trust you. I leave the decision upon you. The coordinator election was announced earlier on Facebook. It will be organised on 24th of August, 2012. The positions are the lead coordinator, vice coordinator, and coordinator. I'll mention the roles for each of these. And members are open to suggest changes in them. However, a placeholder who doesn't act according to the rules will be dissolved. Hi friends! I resigned at the IRC as my health wasn't good and was getting worse thus wan't able to concentrate. Anyhow, I'm normal again and back to wiki, also can dedicate my time to a particular thing. I've started work to create other left out lists and will finish by the end of this week. Sorry if I grabbed your idea but I'd like to be creator of other lists as well as will be contesting the elections. DC, KKR, MI, PWi, RCB are left out as RR is taken up by Vibhi and CSK by TAP. I left for my trip and just came back. I also have other trips each day and sometimes have more then 3 trips (really frustrating)! Just take care that I'm also aiming for DYK of each list thus if you start the work, we'll have to finish in 5 days which becomes a bit tedious. I'm an admirer of Modi too but not BJP. And to add my stress, NEET just got mandatory and the only exam that has any value for admissions. Education is below average if compared to CBSE (What we study in 11 is already studied by students of national board in 8 and 9th) so we are in a sort of pissed off situation right now. Coming back to elections, I agree that it should be kept open for a week and should create a subpage, probably Wikipedia:WikiProject_Indian_Premier_League/Elections/August 2012. The Automatic Assessment tool

Assessment of articles is quite a hectic job. Hmm, for some, it's difficult. I came up with a idea from WP:INDIA. Why not use a automatic tool to assess and tag articles? Yes, now the tool has been created. It appears on every talk page of an article that has our project banner. It's really, really simple to install. All you need to have is that your JavaScript should be running. Copy the code given below and paste in in Special:MyPage/common.js. It should work. All the credit for making this goes to User:YuviPanda, whom I requested. (Though I was bold and made few changes to the script)
