Request edit

Please review Philadelphia City Paper, and in particular, is there still too much detail? I did copyediting to make it past tense for a defunct newspaper, added one inline citation, and some more small details. --DThomsen8 (talk) 01:38, 1 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

The Awards section is absurdly long compared to the rest of the article, and the article doesn't tell much of a story, but those are not copy-editing problems. I would walk away after making sure that the prose is grammatical. – Jonesey95 (talk) 02:55, 1 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
I chopped away at the Awards section, and should have chopped more. I now walk away, per your advice.--DThomsen8 (talk) 15:59, 1 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Devanahalli Pomello edit

I would like a review of my copyediting and other work on Devanahalli Pomello from the Requests page before taking credit (966 words) in the March drive.--DThomsen8 (talk) 01:53, 4 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

I've reviewed it and I agree the article's prose is improved; checked diff. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 02:39, 4 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Nice work. I made a few more edits. – Jonesey95 (talk) 05:12, 4 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Changing to "pomelo" was the right change to do, Have you ever tried one, the common one, not the sweet Indian one? They are very popular and cheap in Malaysia, and I tried one there. Bitter, like a grapefruit, but not bad if sugared before eating. They are easy to obtain here in Asian supermarkets.--DThomsen8 (talk) 01:38, 5 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Is this copyedit done? It still says "Working" on the request, but based on the review request above I would have guessed it had been completed. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:43, 14 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
That was my assumption too; I've posted a note at Dthomsen8's talk page. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 05:32, 14 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Weir, Rajasthan edit

Weir, Rajasthan is a town in India of 94 words, and it almost entirely consists of various lists. Other than taking an axe to the lists, I see little C/E to do. Advice, please.--DThomsen8 (talk) 02:45, 6 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

It's 368 words if you count the lists, which could stand some copy-editing, especially with regard to spacing and capitalization (as seems to be usual in articles written by those whose native language is probably written in an Indic script). I usually try to do some of that when I edit such articles. It is a lot of work without improving the article commensurately, but things can look pretty ugly without it. Dhtwiki (talk) 05:40, 6 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
I've tweaked the text, removed the c/e template and retagged for expansion; we can't c/e bare lists. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 06:15, 14 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Good work, Baffle gab1978 (talk). I have learned something about such articles, which are common in South Asia village articles.--DThomsen8 (talk) 19:49, 26 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

The Amazing Race edit

The Amazing Race 1 through The Amazing Race 24 are all marked for copy editing for grammar. Perhaps someone could do many or all of them, if there is some common grammatical problem. Any ideas?--DThomsen8 (talk) 01:55, 30 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Go for it. All the best, Miniapolis 13:37, 30 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Down to thirteen months in the backlog edit

Let's enjoy the next few hours, during which there will be only thirteen months in the backlog, our lowest number of months since 2013. Our total article count is near our all-time low.

Great work on this drive, everyone. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:37, 31 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Yep, nice work and thanks to all. Shall we make an early April newsletter? I don't think we've done any this year; probably because I've been fairly inactive of late. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 18:13, 31 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Yes, we should. We can highlight this minor achievement and the all-time backlog low that we hit recently, along with our recent solid performance on the Requests page. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:41, 31 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Like Congrats! ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:03, 31 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
I may have popped the champagne cork too soon. With a ton of new articles tagged in March, especially in the last week, we are close to ending the month with more total articles in the backlog than we started with. I am looking through the March 2016 backlog category for short articles to edit in order to prevent this ignominious fate. We have two hours left in the month. Let's finish the month under 1,981 total articles. – Jonesey95 (talk) 21:36, 31 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Oh well; we'll keep the champers on ice for now and make do with Prosecco! :-D Newsletter is here; feel free to edit at will. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 04:17, 2 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
Looks good, Baffle; thanks. We should hold off on the mass mailing till we have a bluelink to the May drive. All the best, Miniapolis 13:55, 2 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
I created the April and May blitz/drive pages and updated the newsletter accordingly. It's ready to go after we give out the March drive barnstars. – Jonesey95 (talk) 03:58, 5 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
Done. Barnstars (except for mine) and newsletter delivered. Onward to April! – Jonesey95 (talk) 03:06, 6 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
