Info edit

If this page was moved to Wikipedia talk:In the news/Administrator instructions, it would be linked to automatically in the top right of the parent page (WP:ITN). See WP:ERRORS for an existing example of this. Modest Genius talk 19:10, 3 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hmm, it doesn't seem to work. What're we missing? Modest Genius talk 21:51, 4 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
A fiddly bit of markup- {{Floatinglink|Administrator instructions|Administrator instructions}}. Well, not th\at fiddly, I copied it from WP:RPP. :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 22:15, 4 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Archiving edit

Archives have not been added since June, 2011. I think this should be a task done by administrators in the process of removing old blurbs, as it is a simple step and will avoid four-month-long backups. Mamyles (talk) 13:27, 1 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

The example... edit

Is it just me or is the example of a blurb here just bollocks : "The United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration successfully launches"? We never normally link common geographical terms like United States and wouldn't we use common terminology such as NASA rather than the expanded variant? The Rambling Man (talk) 20:42, 21 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

No, you're right. It is an incredibly weird example to give for the exact reasons you mentioned. Calidum Talk To Me 01:46, 22 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Updated instructions, particularly image-related edit

@David Levy:, I've updated the image instructions to include using your cool Wikipedia:Main Page/Commons media protection creation.

  1. Thanks again for creating that, it works a lot slicker than locally uploading
  2. Can you review image instructions when you get a chance, to see if I missed anything?

--Floquenbeam (talk) 17:28, 9 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Floquenbeam: Thanks very much for updating the instructions (which slipped my mind). You appear to have covered the process thoroughly. —David Levy 18:47, 9 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Template:ITN candidate: Image generates lint error edit

Please see Template talk:ITN candidate#Image generates lint error: Bogus file options for a discussion on the bug in {{ITN candidate}} that whenever the image parameter is used, it generates a Lint error: Bogus file options, and please add your thoughts there, not here. —Anomalocaris (talk) 07:08, 25 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Suggestion: add /diffs to "Posted" comments. edit

In the first paragraph under #ITN/C, insert "and a link to the template's Special:Diff/" or similar at the end of the sentence "Instead, note that you have posted the item by annotating the section header with '(Posted)' and commenting 'Posted.' with your signature at the bottom of the discussion".

Going forward it would make it easier to search the ITN/C archives for precedent if there is a link provided showing how exactly it was posted. JamesLewisBedford01 (talk) 13:18, 10 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
