So you've stumbled across a cricket article which has perked your interest, or you've gone looking for the article on your favourite cricketer, or perhaps you've found a redlinked cricketer and want to create an article on them? So what next? Well let's begin from scratch...

Lead edit

The lead should introduce the subject and in larger articles should form a summary of the entire article to follow. Begin with the subjects name, including first, middle and last names, then followed by their date of birth, or if deceased, their date of death also. Next, tell the reader the nationality of the subject and what they were (e.g. John Tom Smith (1 January 1921–4 March 1983) was an <nowiki>English first-class <nowiki>cricketer).

Life and career edit

This section should summarise the early parts of their life, such as their education, in addition to any youth cricket they may have played. From there, reference should be made to their career, summing it up on a season-by-season basis, except in the cases where they have made a significant contribution to a match.

Their progression to international level should also be discussed as a separate sub-heading, this time discussed on a series-by-series basis.

Any post-career achievements should also be spoken about (i.e., moves to commentary or administration). Should the player be deceased, their cause of death and legacy (if applicable) should be discussed.
