What is the concern and issues with Collin Haughton's creation

edit

please help us to understand the problem you are having with COllin Haughton's creation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Collin Haughton (talkcontribs) 00:18, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please see the links in the boxes at the top if you have not already. In short, you need more outside reliable sources to show notability (and thus suitability for Wikipedia). You have two independent articles about the company, which is a start, but these are not enough. (However, these would do more in showing the notability of the company itself, rather than its founder. You may want to consider submitting an article about the company, which must meet the notability guidelines for organizations.) --Anon126 (talk - contribs) 01:42, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Re: [Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Belma Islamovic]

I know that you want documentation. I can't find anything written on Belma Islamovic. I interviewed her myself. I did speak to noted peace activist Anne Marie Weiss-Armush and have confidence in the accuracy of the facts, but I can't provide written documentation. Does that render the article inadmissable?

I wrote a longer article on Belma, and it will be published on the new World Without Hate website which is planned to be launched in March 2014. We are hoping that the Wikipedia article will appear first.

Belma will be touring to give speeches about her story and to motivate people to forgive and move on. Potential audience members will check Wikipedia to get her background. That's why I want to supply this article.

I was told that the Dallas Morning News published a story about her more than a decade ago, but I couldn't find it. Perhaps Google records do not go back that far. Do you have ideas about how to obtain it?

Please let me know what to do.

Thanks!

You should not publish your interview on Wikipedia, because Wikipedia does not publish original research, that is, information not published in other sources. Your article to be published in an upcoming website is not yet published now, so it is also considered original research. You say that you want to provide information to potential audience members, but unfortunately not every person (or even every professional, for that matter) can an article on Wikipedia. (Here's why, the short version.) The Internet is a big place, so you can provide information about her elsewhere. --Anon126 (talk - contribs) 19:40, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Need help with article

edit

I wrote a biography of Brad Cole. I am a writer, and he is musician. He asked me to interview him and write his biography. As a writer, I was able to corroborate his stories by talking with others in Brad's life and also from attending some of his performances. Of course, some people I could not talk to (his parents, brother, etc.) because they are deceased. The article (biography) I wrote can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Brad_Cole_(songwriter/musician)

It was rejected by wiki because it does not have references. How does one come up with references when the facts were dictated to them directly from the source? — Preceding unsigned comment added by CherylAustin (talkcontribs) 03:29, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You publish the interview in an independent reliable source such as a mainstream music magazine, not on Wikipedia. Only previously published information is allowed in articles here. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 12:55, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Articles for creation,

I recently found an article I submitted (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Dorri_Olds) was rejected for the following reason:

"No independent sources or references provided to establish notability, everything appears to be by or directly related to the subject."

I'm a bit confused on reason for rejection. Subject did not self-publish pieces noted in references, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Literary prize (first place, non-fiction), awarded by New York Press. (Subject did not award herself the prize.)
  • Interview with a notable person, Dr. Drew, who spoke with subject at length. The interview was broadcast on a notable, nationwide (in US) TV show. (Subject did not create her own video and post it online.)

Article may need some work, but I believe I'm at least off to a good start with references noted above. Do you agree?.

Before I do more work on piece, I'd greatly appreciate any help/input possible.

Thank you very much! Minusminority (talk) 14:30, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia's general notability guideline requires that the subject be discussed in sources that are both reliable and independent. These sources may be reliable (having "a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy"), but they are not independent because they come from the subject herself.
  • Interviews are not independent because most of the information is provided by the person being interviewed.
  • Publications in notable publications are not sources of information. The sources must be about the subject.
  • A literary award is both reliable and independent, so it counts toward notability.
I hope this clarifies some issues. If you have any more questions or concerns, please reply below. --Anon126 (talk - contribs) 19:20, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

sir i want to submit my above article to you sir and want to publish it

Shah manthan (talk) 05:28, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Your article was properly submitted. However, I have just declined it. I suspect that this is an article about yourself, which is not forbidden but highly discouraged. I do not deny your talent and potential, but you have not been covered in outside sources (such as news articles and magazines). Wikipedia calls this notability, and it is required for having an article. Wikipedia is not for promoting yourself, I'm afraid, so the best thing to do is continue your studies and work. Best of luck! --Anon126 (talk - contribs) 19:02, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

We have created an article, but it was declined on the grounds that a reviewer didn't understand the concept. We modified the article including more explanations, but are still waiting for the review. It has been some time now and we are wondering what happened to the review and when it will be finished. Thank you. Lucie911 (talk) 06:50, 1 February 2014 (UTC)Lucis911[reply]

Respeected sir i m disciple of Dr. parag Choudhari.i submited a infromation about my Guru(Music teacher)who is a legendary artist. and its a personal information obtain from him only.thats whys dont have standard source of ref plz help mi in this case. (Paragshriram (talk) 07:29, 1 February 2014 (UTC))[reply]

You cannot use your personal knowledge, or anything that was told to you, in any article on Wikipedia. Only published sources are acceptable. If nothing has ever been published about Choudhari in independent reliable sources we cannot have an article about him. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 12:52, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

Why was my article 'Stand Up - The Musical' not accepted?

Thank you

DarylDenham (talk) 09:30, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The decline is explained in the pink box at the top of the page. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 12:46, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Reviewers,

I had written a small biography of photographer Vincent Versace, which was declined. I'd like to know why and how to improve it so it would be approved.

Thank you.

There are no references at all! Where did you find the information you wrote? Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 12:48, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Note that I have just blanked this draft as a copyright infringement from http://www.versacephotography.com/index.php#mi=1&pt=0&pi=2&s=0&p=0&a=0&at=0 of which it is a verbatim copy. Voceditenore (talk) 13:19, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Jed, I have a feeling Versace might meet our notability criteria, but you need to start from scratch, re-writing the article in your own words and writing it like an encyclopedic biography, not a publicity blurb. When and where was he born? Where did he study? How did his career develop? Has he exhibited? if so, where? What was the critical reception of his work? Most importantly, you need to provide references from sources which are completely independent of Versace and which both attest to his notability and and verify the assertions in the article. You might want to look at Kirsten Klein for an example to follow. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 15:59, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Application Architects

edit

Can we add a page about the company Application Architects? It's my dad's company. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.15.62.73 (talk) 20:53, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Since you have a close connection with this company, you have a conflict of interest, so coming to articles for creation is a good step. However, if you do begin an article about the company, you must make sure that it meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines (or the specific guidelines for organizations). The simple version: This company must have been covered in a significant number of outside reliable sources (news articles, magazines, books, films, or other works independent of the company). Otherwise, your article will be declined. If you have any questions about this, feel free to reply here. --Anon126 (talk - contribs) 02:19, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I created a page for a decathlete, Garrett Scantling, (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Crandallp/sandbox#Request_review_at_WP:AFC) who has a teammate, Maicel Uibo, who already has a page with far less info and the same references. My page was denied. What's the difference? All info is verifiable at the references I listed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Crandallp (talkcontribs) 23:41, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Maicel Uibo never went through a review process, it was created directly in mainspace so comparing your draft to it is pointless. Now that you've brought it to our attention someone might propose that Maicel Uibo be deleted. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 20:52, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
