Hello, I have a problem and I'm not sure how to correct this. I've written an article about the Illinois Woman's Press Association. One version is posted , a second, edited version is in my sandbox. How do I get the article in sandbox to replace the one that now has two comments? I am the author of both. Prior to my writing about the IWPA there were no other articles about the 128 year old organization on Wikipedia.

Also, I haven't figured out how to link the article in my sandbox with articles already on Wikipedia that should be. Example. Elizabeth Reed; Jan Huttner; National Federation of Press Women. Each of these could and should be linked to my article but I'm still attempting to figure out how to go about it. Each of them has a definite connection to the Illinois Woman's Press Association.

For all I can tell there are currently two versions, Illinois Woman's Press Association, tagged for speedy deletion for a host of reasons, and Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Illinois Woman's Press Association, where your sandbox redirects to. The former will probably soon be deleted; when the latter passes the review process it it will get moved thereto. I would strongly advise you not to move the page yourself but to await a reviewer's feedback. Furthermore there were copyright concerns; apparently parts of the draft (and the article) are copied verbatim from the Association's website. That will have to be resolved before we can accept the submission.
Links are created by double square brackets. [[Illinois]] will look like this: Illinois. If for some reason you want the displayed text to differ from the title of the page linked to, you can use a "piped" link: [[Elizabeth Armstrong Reed|Elizabeth Reed]] will link to our article on Elizabeth Armstrong Reed but will look like this: Elizabeth Reed.   This page is for questions about the Articles for creation process. Please consider asking this question at the Wikipedia:Reference desk. They specialize in knowledge questions and will try to answer any question in the universe (except how to use Wikipedia, since that is what the Help Desk is for). Just follow the link, select the relevant section, and ask away. You could always try searching Wikipedia for an article related to the topic you want to know more about. I hope this helps. That was a copy of your draft. Please don't paste it here but improve Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/David Goldfarb instead. The draft currently doesn't establish that the subject is notable. For that, Goldfarb would have to be the subject of significant coverage in reliable third-party sources such as newspapers or film magazines. Huon (talk) 04:47, 25 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a new user. I just created an "article for creation" but it wound up on the talk page, not the project page. Did it get to the wrong page, as I suspect, or is this somehow correct? Hi,

I wrote a simple article based on a fictional character from a book i read.

There are other articles based on fictional characters that got approved.

I thought it was objective.

Please provide your reasons for my article being declined ?

Your draft does not give any evidence that the subject is notable, you have not cited any independent sources. Has anyone other than Vago written substantially about the Sagitarius character? Without such sources there cannot be an article. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 15:04, 25 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Then the question is substantiality because Drizzt Dourden is a fictional character that is only notable by a series of books written about him. Only Salvatore has written about Drizzt, because he owns the intellectual property of him. What is considered substantial ? three books, five what is the quantity that makes a fictional character substantial?

That article has no references. Any Wikipedia article needs independent, reliable references to be acceptable. Check out WP:REFBEGIN for help, or WP:IRS for in-depth coverage. Hope this helps! Howicus (talk) 18:34, 25 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Rejected post: Frederick Kumokun Haastrup Ajimoko I

Hello Shii - I'm new to Wikipedia. Have tried reading up on how to include citations, but frankly, I find it all very confusing and still have no idea how to go about it. I've added in the page numbers as you requested. Ajimoko I is my great grandfather. Adedokun my father. I grew up hearing about Ajimoko I from my father. Unfortunately Wikipedia requires reliable published sources that are independent of the subject, such as newspaper articles or books published with reputable publishers. Your father's personal reminiscences are not verifiable by our readers and thus cannot be used as a source. Wikis are user-submitted content without editorial oversight; they're not reliable.
It would also help if you used footnotes to clarify which of the references supports which of the draft's statements; see Help:Referencing for beginners on how to easily create nicely-formatted footnotes. For example, which source confirms that Kúmókụn was kidnapped in ca. 1824 while on an errant?
