Back issues of magazines

Are there any websites that sell back issues of old magazines? I am aware of Ebay and Amazon. Any others? I did a Google search, but that generally produced websites that sell back issues of one specific magazine only. For example, maybe People magazine, on their website, sells back issues of People magazine. That's not what I am looking for. I want a general website (like Ebay or Amazon), where regular consumers (not publishers) buy and sell the old magazines that they have laying around their house. Any ideas? Thanks. Joseph A. I don't know, but if there is such a website, it will not have as much for sale as eBay does. eBay is the biggest marketplace for this sort of stuff and there is no reason to look for anywhere else. --Viennese Waltz 22:22, 2 February 2014 (UTC)

Possibly, although if the item you want is not available on eBay, it's unlikely that you will find it anywhere else. Look at it this way: if someone has the thing you want, and they want to sell it, they will sell it on eBay. They won't sell it anywhere else. --Viennese Waltz 08:56, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

That's the whole point. I am not finding it on Ebay. So, I want to explore other options. Yes, I know that Ebay is the biggest, most popular internet marketplace site. Hi, thanks. No, I had never heard of Gumtree until just now. I just read the Wikipedia article. That seems more like a Craig's List type of site, as opposed to an Ebay type of site. Am I correct? In other words, at Ebay, people bid on auctions to purchase items. At Craig's List, people (sellers) simply post the items that they want to sell; it's basically an online classified ad. Joseph A. How old? You might check at your local public library. My old library only kept print magazines for a year, then gave away/sold/recycled them. This would be useful if you just generally want old-ish magazines, less so if you want a specific magazine and issue. SemanticMantis (talk) 21:08, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

If just borrowing them is fine, then it might be worth checking at your library even for older ones. Some libraries re-bind their old periodicals into volumes, and your library may be able to order one of those volumes in via interlibrary loan. Katie R (talk) 16:49, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

Libraries may also store analog or digitized copies of magazines. Many libraries have collections of old periodicals on microfiche or microfilm. Especially large city libraries and university libraries. --Jayron32 17:10, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

You might want to try UsedMagazines.com. Can't vouch for them, but they seem to have a good selection. That link goes to general magazines, but if you go to the startpage, you can specify porn or car categories. InedibleHulk (talk) 18:11, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

Today's featured article on Charlie Chaplin got me thinking. I have seen a Chaplin film where Chaplin's character is a subtenant of a man whose mood varies depending on his condition. When he's drunk, he is friends with Chaplin's character and wants the very best for him. When he's sober, he can't stand the sight of Chaplin's character. Which film is this? You are looking for City Lights. Now Chaplin sometimes reused and updated bits from his short films so that might be what you are remembering but, at the moment, I can't recall that in this situation. MarnetteD | Talk 20:13, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
