Hardest

You must further define both "hardest" and "game". It would be rather easy to give a flippant answer such as "achieving Nirvana is a rather difficult game." As for your second question, I wonder if RSA is still offering a prize for winning the RSA factoring game? (nope- stopped in 2007) Now that I think of it, chess and go are two very old games that nobody has beaten 100% (in other words, compiled a series of moves that will win every time) -- kainaw™ 03:24, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Pedantic answer: Well, the hardest game ever made, would probably be chess because the I have seen hardwood chess boards a couple of inches thick, such boards are very dense and so are very hard. The chess pieces can be made of marble, which is also a very hard substance.

Actual answer (assuming you mean 'hard' in it's other sense): That's a very subjective question. What may be hard for some people may not be hard for others. I have never played chess or poker because I can never remember the rules, and so I would find it hard if I tried. My dad on the other hand, is great at both these games because when he was young these were the games people played. My dad is far from perfect though, he can't play video games on games consoles, they are impossibly hard for him, whereas I find them really easy to both understand and play.

Finding something hard or easy varies from person to person, everyone has strengths and weaknesses and so it is impossible to define the hardest game. I think you should analyse your own strengths and weaknesses and then try to figure out what game would be the hardest for you - you should consider your memory, mental agility, creativity and you hand-eye coordination.

Because it is impossible to decide, many games market themselves as the hardest, e.g. "The World's Hardest Jig-saw Puzzle"

--> A few years ago there was a new "The World's Hardest Jig-saw Puzzle" which did sound extremely hard, the pieces were of varying shapes sizes, there were random abstract pictures on either sides of the pieces and there were an absurd number of pieces.

I don't really understand what you mean by "games that have...never been beaten 100%". Does that mean never completed? If it does, then many haven't been completed, many can't be completed!

Even with video games, they are incomparable. How can you compare a first-person shooter with a car racing game? Different games play on different aspects of reality, some are very visual, some very mental - especially if you include the "brain training" video games.

I might find it really easy to race a virtual car around a track, but impossible to shoot some people in a battlefield, and you might be visa versa. Also the user interface differences make games further incomparable; a PS3 remote is different to a X-BOX remote, which is different from a Wii-mote. These different controllers give different experiences to different games.

Trying to compare video games is impossible, one - it is very subjective, two - there are hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of games. OK. I just made a video game. It is probably the hardest video game ever made. The first step is to guess what the web address is to start playing the game. Then, if you somehow guess what that is, you won't get any rules, just a white screen with a generic 404 page not found error. If you then figure out how to start the game, you won't get any instructions on what to do or how to win. You'll have to figure that out on your own. If memory serves me correctly, the hardest game ever made was Impossible Mission for the Atari 7800. The game contained a bug which actually prevented you from winning the game. 12.10.248.51 (talk) 18:25, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Not sure how I forgot, but The Amazing Spider-Man (video game) is a definite contender. I played this game for untold hours and could not beat it. And to quote one of the review links, "As far as I know, nobody has beaten The Amazing Spider-Man. Ever. There's one faq on GameFAQs, and even its author couldn't beat the game."
