ft

What does "ft" mean in music? Terror toad (talk) 11:49, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

The only possibility I can think of is in organ music, where stops can be described as 8ft (=8-foot, i.e. sounds at written pitch), 4ft, 16 ft and so on, though even there I think abbreviations like 8' are more usual. Do you have any more context for this? Could it actually be fz = forzando, or ff = fortissimo? AndrewWTaylor (talk) 12:00, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

It might mean "featuring", when credit to a musician who is not the main artist for their performance on a song is give. Like "Avril Lavigne Ft Kelly Clarkson", "Madonna Ft Justin Timberlake", "Will I Am Ft Cheryl Cole" or "Estelle Ft Kanye West". Another possibility (not just in music) is fl for floruit, meaning 'flourished', which is sometimes used when which is sometimes used when a composer's birth and death dates are unknown: e.g. J.K. Schickelgruber (fl 1690-1710). It's possible it could be abbreviated to ft, though I don't recall ever seeing this. AndrewWTaylor (talk) 17:09, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Probably not. We're in the standard phase that surrounds a Bond film with tabloids and magazines speculating on who will sing the song. Its just that. Speculation. There have been numerous magazines saying x will sing the song or band Y will be singing the song. Some of these seem... unlikely at best (for instance, the Deadliest Catch thing is more likely asking about a literal fire in the hold, not the explosives-pending phrase). Best guess at a famous Swedish band is ABBA, and Mamma Mia! is the ABBA-related musical. This does not preclude another musical which could feature Swedish music and thus meet the criteria, however. — Lomn 21:26, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Who narrates the Wild Chronicles podcasts?

The voiceover on National Geographic's podcast Vultures of the Serengeti sounds very familiar, maybe one of the male actors from Desperate Housewives. However, I can't find anything on the web crediting whoever it is.
