Ustad Lal Chand Yamla Jatt

edit

Why Wikipedia doesn't have the biography of Ustad Lal Chand Yamla Jatt, a Punjabi folk singer? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.64.133.187 (talk) 02:05, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You can make one yourself Foxhill (talk) 02:21, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

name that flick

edit

I was in Fry's this evening and a movie on one of the big TVs caught my eye. The heroine was on the roof of a skyscraper, surrounded by dozens of Asian guys with guns. The viewpoint zoomed in on the reflection in someone's sunglasses, recursively. Then the shooting started and we saw the scene reflected in the first bullet, which of course was slowed to a crawl. The heroine dodged all the bullets, and all the gangsters took friendly fire. The scene's dominant color was orange. What's the title? —Tamfang (talk) 08:39, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Matrix --'n1yaNt 09:06, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The style sounds like The Matrix but I don't remember that scene at all. Dismas|(talk) 10:57, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely not. —Tamfang (talk) 17:45, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Two recent movies with the same sort of style were Aeon Flux and Ultraviolet. --Sean 12:29, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've also seen Aeon Flux and do not remember that scene in that movie. Dismas|(talk) 13:35, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The name of the movie you're thinking of is Ultraviolet. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 196.209.29.186 (talk) 13:55, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Almost certainly Ultraviolet, judging by our plot summary and IMDb's collection of stills (which do not include any scene that I saw). —Tamfang (talk) 17:45, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The movie is Ultraviolet starring Mila Jovovich. You saw one of the Gun Kata scenes. Here's a close up of the main character. AniRaptor2001 (talk) 20:01, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

old giant robot movie

edit

I am looking for the title of a Sci Fi Movie made prior to 1975. The early plot involves a metallic dome nearly 75 feet in diameter emerging very slowly from the water (likely the ocean). It is revealed that the dome is in fact the top of the head of a giant metallic robot that stands over 250 feet high. It begins destroying the city using rectangular shaped feet that "pound" down using pistons. The city tries to destroy the machine using jets and rockets.

I saw the movie as a kid. I have tried searching movie lists in the genre but have had no luck identifying it.

Can you help?

music and entertainment inquiries

edit

who is Stickz Greenz? ive been hearing a lot about him and love his music but your site is my favorite and has nothing on him. id love to learn more. please, help!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zoom4x (talkcontribs) 18:47, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Based on about 2 minutes searching but he looks like the reason being he isn't notable. His music is on MySpace but so is every small-time band in the world just about. A "Stickz Greenz" search on google returns about 400 results (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=Stickz+greenz&btnG=Search&meta=) and most of them appear to be myspace based/myspace-territory. If he becomes notable then he'll get added soon enough, otherwise i couldn't find any more info than his myspace page ny156uk (talk) 19:08, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You or one of your friends would be my guess. Recury (talk) 20:15, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sci-fi movie identification

edit

I cannot remember the title of a scifi movie that was released saw in the late 70's or early 80's. Fairly cheesy, low budget number.

I recall that it featured a large spaceship shaped like a giant hand, and I believe that when the ship entered combat, the hand closed into a fist.

Thank you. 65.203.61.153 (talk) 21:54, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That'll be Starcrash, more here. Foxhill (talk) 22:00, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, that's it! Thank you! 65.203.61.153 (talk) 22:49, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Music from today's episode of Lead Balloon (UK)

edit

Hi! Today was the end of the UK comedy series Lead Balloon (with Jack Dee); episode title "Lucky". In the scene when Marty is on the bus to the airport, there is a song playing in the background. Can't remember any lyrics, but really hope somebody does, any ideas? Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.210.149.98 (talk) 23:29, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nintendo

edit

Why do games made by Nintendo only appear on Nintendo consoles? 58.168.147.119 (talk) 23:34, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe they are only designed for Nintendo consoles?--TreeSmiler (talk) 23:39, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Because they want you to buy their console/s? They could license them but seeing as they are one way of having exclusive content for that machine then it makes sense not to. Particularly with the strong brands that Nintendo has in its game-catalogue too ny156uk (talk) 23:41, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Come on, you can surely guess? By making certain titles exclusive to their own consoles, Nintendo hopes to create incentive to purchase their consoles versus their competitors'. --24.147.86.187 (talk) 23:41, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it's for the same reason that all Microsoft games are only available for Windows PC or Xbox. Fleetflame (talk) 02:21, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
