This page is for questions about using Wikipedia. Please consider asking this question at the Computing reference desk. They specialize in answering computer questions and will try to answer any question in the universe (except how to use Wikipedia, since that is what this Help Desk is for). Just follow the link and ask away. You could always try searching Wikipedia for an article related to the topic you want to know more about. I hope this helps. --David Biddulph (talk) 09:53, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sardinia - Image switcher edit

Hi! I'd like to provide the infobox on the page about Sardinia with a switcher between these three pictures and related captions: Sardinia within Italy, Location of Sardinia in Europe (green and dark grey) and Italy (green), and finally The island of Sardinia as seen from the International Space Station. Is that possible? Thanks in advance for listening and possibly answering.Dk1919 (talk) 10:00, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Is this what you had in mind?

Selected pictures

Or were you after something automated? - X201 (talk) 11:37, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@X201: I've disabled this markup. The {{Box-header}} template has the side-effect of disabling the section edit links, which is undesirable both in articles and at this help desk. -- John of Reading (talk) 12:59, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This side-effect and another to hide an automatic table of contents can be disabled with {{Box-header|EDIT=yes|TOC=yes}}. I have done this. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:06, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
{{Switcher}} may be more suited for an infobox:

It can for example be placed at the end of an existing parameter. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:20, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's exactly what I've been looking for. Can you manage to make it into the page? I would do it myself, were it not that I'd most likely mess up the infobox. Thank you both!Dk1919 (talk) 15:10, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How do i sign in debates ? edit

I can't find that option any longer. Idiotic. Ezzex

@Ezzex: I see you have enabled "New wikitext mode" or "Automatically enable all new beta features" at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-betafeatures. There should be an "Insert" menu where you can select "More" and "Your signature". I sign by manually typing ~~~~. See Tilde#Keyboards. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:28, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone repair this article, so that it compliances with the Wikipedia good article? I think all of the info relating to the flag had been cited with a good reference source, and with some cleanup, can be nominated to the good article. If this article couldn't be nominated for GA criteria, even with cleanup, I must say that I am sorry, I have been here for only 8 months.--Jeromi Mikhael (talk) 12:47, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Visual Editor edit

I use the Visual Editor to edit my article but I can't find it when logged in so I've had to do all edits not logged in. Metaphysics Man (talk) 16:11, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there Metaphysics Man! What I can think of as a potential cause for this problem could exist in your user preferences page, on the editing tab. Click here to go straight there. On that page, there are two relevant options - Temporarily disable the visual editor while it is in beta and Editing Mode. You'll want to make sure that the first option is unchecked, and that the Editing Mode option is either set to "Always Give me the Visual Editor if possible" or "Show me both editor tabs". Do either of these help? --HunterM267 talk 17:01, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I see you are now using VisualEditor so I assume this is resolved. PrimeHunter (talk) 10:18, 28 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How to delete a wikipage edit

I'd like to delete a wikipedia page which I created. Specifically https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oladipupo_Olatunde_Adebutu

Kindly walk me through on how to do so.

Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by GenOla247 (talkcontribs) 18:37, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Socialninja1: That page was created by Socialninja1. I'm guessing that you either are Oladipupo Olatunde Adebutu or at least work for him. Please read WP:OWN, WP:COI, and WP:NOTCENSORED to understand why you should not be editing the article. If you are not Oladipupo Olatunde Adebutu, then you need to disclose that you work for him on your user page. Ian.thomson (talk) 18:45, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Clement7750: This is the Wikipedia Help Desk, where you can ask questions on how to use Wikipedia and receive help on how to use Wikipedia. Ian.thomson (talk) 23:07, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

link to website edit

How do I link a page in wikipedia to my website to explain what encaustic is?Creginam13 (talk) 23:15, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Creginam13: First, read WP:LINKSTOAVOID. Then add encaustic to the article instead. Ian.thomson (talk) 23:17, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Template:OSMwiki? edit

Do we have a template that is the equivalent of Template:Wiktionary for OpenStreetMap's wiki? Many geography topics are both relevant to Wikipedia as encyclopedic coverage material, and to OSM as reference for how to build a map. Having standardly-formatted links between equivalent articles on the two wikis would help both contributor bases keep each other accurate and up-to-date (although of course anyone editing in both communities should realise the cultural and policy differences: osmwiki:Welcome to Wikipedia users for instance).
