how i can translate any english article

edit

I want to translate hashimoto's disease to bengali from english. How can i do this. Please help me anyone — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bhaarat Nath (talkcontribs) 08:39, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

See Wikipedia:Translate us, Bhaarat Nath. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 08:45, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
However, English Wikipedia already has an article on Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Maproom (talk) 09:21, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Maproom: That's why User Bhaarat Nath wants to translate it from en-wiki to bengali and not from anywhere else. :) CiaPan (talk) 11:36, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Can I deposit money $ direct at the central bank of Egypt to pay stalemement of Ard Al-Watan, — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.126.37.130 (talk) 10:05, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How can it be that the album called Radiophonie vol. 9 ends up under the letter O instead of the letter R on the page above? It's a category-page, so it sorts the pages within automatically and so I'm unable to change it just like that... Oxygene7-13 (talk) 11:01, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Its because of the {{DEFAULTSORT:Oxygène 3}} command at the bottom of the article code. this tells the category sorter to tag it under a different alphabetic order than the article title. In answer to your next question, no, I don't know why its there. - X201 (talk) 11:05, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like it was copy and pasted from somewhere else and not edited. I can't see a reason for having Default Sort in that article, so I've removed it - X201 (talk) 11:10, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It has been changed so no follow up question. ;-) Oxygene7-13 (talk) 11:11, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Licenses

edit

Two questions.

RedPanda25 16:12, 24 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

IANAL and all that but from reading the article it seems to me that the Open Game License is non-free, unlike the other two (hence incompatible). The OGL looks like a the reverse of a patent, allowing others to reuse the inner gear but maintaining copyrights on the skin (a patent can only protect "gears"). Moreover, the OGL seems to require the full copyright notice to be distributed along any derivative works, similarly to the GFDL is similar, but not the CC BY-SA (which merely imposes that the derivative be available under CC BY-SA, but the full text need not be attached). The way I make a page's cache purge right now is I click on the "View History" tab then replace the &action=history part of the URL with &action=purge. Is there a faster way to get to the purge cache option for a page? GSMR (talk) 15:23, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@GSMR: Go to Preferences > Gadets > Appearance and enable the Purge option. Then you can click on the More tab next to the favourite star at the top of the article and get a purge option on the list - X201 (talk) 15:31, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@X201: Thank you very much! GSMR (talk) 15:34, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have written an article but i dont no how to publish it ??

edit

i wrote an article on company RAB Rent A Car but i dont know how to publish it because no one else can search — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrdanishalvi (talkcontribs) 15:45, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but that's not an article. Its an advert for a business. Wikipedia won't publish it in that form. I suggest you start at WP:YFA, the key sections are the one's about References and Things to avoid. - X201 (talk) 15:53, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How do you find other users, or even find out publishers or editors on a article. Thanks

edit

Hi, i'm very new to wikipedia so i just want to know how to interact or find other users on wikipedia. I also want to know how to find publishers on web pages or articles, please awnser soon. — Preceding unsigned comment added by FredsaidYum (talkcontribs) 16:52, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Fredsaidyum:, you can click the "View History" tab at the top of any Wikipedia page to determine who made edits on a particular article. And then click on that users name to go to their user talk page, or you can edit the Talk page of any article to ask for help. uhhlive (talk) 21:10, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
FredsaidYum, I put a welcome message on your talk page which provides links for a few introductory things. †dismas†|(talk) 22:52, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have tried before - unsuccessfully; please place a small pic of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (from her page up the top) in the "Olive Middleton (née Lupton)" section of the Lupton family page. Please write underneath the pic: Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (née Middleton), great granddaughter of Olive Middleton (née Lupton) . Please make sure that there is an accent over the word "née" in both names. Your help is really appreciated Thanks 21:51, 2 March 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Srbernadette (talkcontribs)

It appears this has been done.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 21:01, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Crab Nebula article error

edit

Hello,

I think you have a mistake in this article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crab_Nebula. Distance is 650 and not 6500±1600 ly (2000±500[2] pc).

regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:8071:6B5:B300:4DC3:E37E:5809:AD9D (talk) 22:51, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

What is your source? All Google hits I examined on "Crab Nebula" "light years" say 6000 to 6523 light years. PrimeHunter (talk) 00:22, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I concur with PrimeHunter. There is a review of twelve different measurements of the distance to M1 at this link, which concludes an average of 1930 parsecs. Multiplying by the conversion factor of 3.26 gives 6300 light years (to two significant figures), which is well within the range in the article. --Gronk Oz (talk) 14:14, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How do I edit mobile header sections?

edit

I was using a mobile phone, and I saw a blurb(?) section at the top of the article before the first text. I found a mistake in one of them, but I can't figure out how to edit them. How do those get edited? McKay (talk) 23:54, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That may well be something which is (unwisely) imported from WP:Wikidata, so it would need correcting there. --David Biddulph (talk) 00:06, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Right, some mobile features automatically display Wikidata descriptions. Click "Wikidata item" under "Tools" in the left pane of the desktop version. The bottom of the mobile version may have a "Desktop" link. PrimeHunter (talk) 00:14, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome. Thanks you twoMcKay (talk) 00:31, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This is asked so often that we might want to think about putting it in an FAQ. †dismas†|(talk) 01:00, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
