Can you add the portraits of the two leaders (https://ipfs.io/ipfs/QmXoypizjW3WknFiJnKLwHCnL72vedxjQkDDP1mXWo6uco/I/m/Abdulmalik_Alhouthi_by_Mbazri.jpg and https://www.akg-images.com/Docs/AKG/Media/TR3_WATERMARKED/0/8/3/6/AKG3837504.jpg) on this file? @RainbowSilver2ndBackup: All of the three images (you created) aren't sourced or fictional and promotes your POV .--SharabSalam (talk) 11:33, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@RainbowSilver2ndBackup: all of three images have been nominated for deletion. If you make the North Korean leaders propaganda on Houthis I will report you to admins for trying to push a POV. Thanks.--SharabSalam (talk) 18:47, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I made them just for satire, just don't take them seriously. RainbowSilver2ndBackup (talk) 18:56, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
RainbowSilver2ndBackup
1- I am not taking anything seriously (until now).
2- I have asked in wiki commons if this type of "satir" is allowed in wiki commons considering that it is pushing a POV and that there is no education purpose behind it and the next reply was that the images are nominated for deletion(it's not even me who nominated). It is not a satir it's called propaganda.
3- You have just put the "satirical political" category right now.
4- The Houthi leaders "meme"(I should say) that you are trying to make WHY you didn't say it's a fictional?
It's is so clear that you are pushing a POV considering your latest edits as well. (not the first time to target Houthi-related articles with biased POVs) --SharabSalam (talk) 19:28, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

PNG renderer doesn't handle the coloring order correctly

Case in point: File:Metric system adoption map.svg – Antarctica (and other small uninhabited territories that belong to the class "antxx" defined in the SVG file) gets rendered in gray when SVG is previewed directly by either Inkscape or a browser, but the renderer renders them green. Can someone look into this and possibly fix the PNG renderer? cherkash (talk) 03:12, 11 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Update: the latest revision I uploaded seems to work – but this doesn't take away from the problem. It's just a workaround. So if you troubleshoot this issue, please take a look at one (or both) of the two previous editions that were rendering incorrectly. The changes between the revisions are trivial (they are hand-edited) – so it should be easy to see the changes to localize what's going on. cherkash (talk) 03:22, 11 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Cherkash: I have had this issue in the past. I wish I knew enough to comb through the code and find out exactly what causes this, but alas, I can't. The workaround that I use is to copy-and-paste the entire image to a new document. I've tested it on the file you listed (I used the file from "02:40, 11 February 2019"). Let me know if it renders properly on your end. Pbroks13 (talk) 03:57, 11 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Pbroks13: it did render properly, but the edits you made defeat the purpose of these series of files – i.e. to be easily editable by hand and to have a clean internal structure of the styles applied to the elements. So this doesn't quite solve the problem with the renderer... Actually, I had already forced the renderer to do what I needed (see my update to my initial posting above) – but it's the fact that the renderer doesn't behave consistently with other editors/viewers (and hence doesn't probably follow the standards) is what I'm trying to draw attention to here. Thanks for trying to help. cherkash (talk) 04:05, 11 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Cherkash: I see. I'll go ahead and revert my edit. Also, just a heads up, there are a good bit of grey circles that have their opacity set to 0. Not sure if this was intentional. (I see that it is, now that I read the code) Sorry I couldn't be of more help; TilmannR seems quite knowledgeable on these kind of issues. Perhaps they could be of assistance. Pbroks13 (talk) 04:09, 11 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This inconsistency can be replicated with the following SVG:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" width="300" height="300">
  <style type="text/css">
    .red{fill:#f00;}
    .blue{fill:#08f;}
  </style>
  <rect width="100%" height="100%" class="blue red"/>
</svg>

Browsers render it as a blue square. The Commons SVG Checker renders it as a red square. Apparently browsers prioritize classes, which appear later in the CSS. Librsvg seems to prioritize classes, which appear later in the class attribute. In the world map's class attributes antxx came before landxx. Therefore antxx's grey fill was overwritten with landxx's green. Replacing all occurrences of antxx landxx with landxx antxx seems to fix that problem. TilmannR (talk) 15:28, 11 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@TilmannR: Do you know which is a correct behavior per the applicable standards? My hunch is that CSS ordering should take precedence: isn't that one of the main points of having CSS? I.e. abstraction of the elements styling from the elements description. cherkash (talk) 10:43, 15 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Cherkash: Indeed. The W3C recommendation says "The last declaration in document order wins.", which is consistent with the behavior found in browsers. The Phabricator task for this issue is phab:T215815. TilmannR (talk) 15:29, 15 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Minor change to timeline diagram

Article(s)
Methodist Church of Great Britain
Request
This is a request for minor change. The original file shows a horizontal line indicating a merger between some of the Wesleyan Reformers and the United Methodist Free Churches in 1857; in the newer file this line has been mistakenly omitted, although the label to the right is present. Please add a line at the 1857 mark (as in the first file), preferably one that is a gradient from gold to green (as in first file, and similar to the effect at the top of the diagram). Changes can be made to the second file; a separate file is obviously not necessary. Thanks in advance. -- Hazhk (talk) 22:52, 3 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

[png2svg] Arms of Fiji, 1871

Coat of arms of Fiji, Kingdom of Fiji
Request
Would it be possible for someone to create an SVG version of the above coat of arms of the Kingdom of Fiji from 1871-1874? And for anyone who wants to undertake this, here's an old Fijian coin with said arms on it, in order to provide a better guide to the outline of the image. Thanks.   Request taken by Pbroks13 (talk) 15:57, 3 January 2019 (UTC).[reply]

@Snow Lion Fenian: Your thoughts? Pbroks13 (talk) 17:55, 6 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Pbroks13: Very nice work, and thanks for taking the time to do this. Though while we're here, would it be possible to create a colourised SVG image of this alternate version of the 1871 Fijian Arms, as documented on this page here. It would presumably use the same colours as the one above, but obviously with different shapes and size dimensions for the various objects. Also, the page describes the crown in this case as resembling that of Louis XV. Sorry about this, it's just that I don't think it would hurt to have both versions of the Arms on Wikipedia, and I thought I might as well ask while we're still on the subject of it. But if you're not feeling up for it, I will declare this resolved either way. Thanks again. Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 19:13, 8 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Snow Lion Fenian: Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. The page mentions that it "reminds of the [[|File:Crown of Louis XV, Musée du Louvre, Paris October 2015.jpg|crown of King Louis XV]]," but the french crowns display a fleur de lis. Nothing I've seen has shown any Fijian emblem with a fleur de lis; for example, that coin displays a cross. I am just unsure on how the crown part of the arms should be. Are you able to clarify that for me? Thanks. Pbroks13 (talk) 16:37, 13 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Pbroks13: Sorry for the delay. Honestly I'm not sure, I was merely going by what the article said. Yes, it is hard to make out whether the emblem on the crown from the article is supposed to be a cross or a fleur-de-lis, and I haven't seen any Fijian heraldry bearing a fleur-de-lis either, so I know it is a bit unusual for a Fijian arms to allegedly bear a French-style crown, but then again, the two sceptres in the Arms are said to be similar to those of Charles II and Mary of Modena, neither of which have anything to do with Fiji either. Hence the crown doesn't seem to be the only thing that Cakobau copied from European royalty when creating the arms. But if we're both unsure, would you prefer not to create such a file? Sorry about this. Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 20:09, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Snow Lion Fenian: I don't mind making it; I've actually already made it. I just don't know which crown to use! It's up to you, just let me know. Perhaps some more digging into what "The Royal Fijian Crown" is is necessary. Pbroks13 (talk) 20:36, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Pbroks13: Well, there really doesn't seem to be any fixed version of the "Royal Fijian Crown" from the 1871-1874 time period, as proven with the differing examples of said crown displayed here and here. And according to the aforementioned article, no actual Fijian regalia ever existed physically in the 1870s, only for heraldic purposes. However, this photo of an old Fijian flag that I came across on the Fiji Museum website seems to show a crown with two red shapes that vaguely resemble fleur-de-lis. I know they only resemble them in a rather crude way (and that the crown doesn't look that much like the one on the arms in any other way either), but it does make me wonder if fleur-de-lis did indeed appear in Fijian heraldry at the time after all (even if it seems to have been completely copied from European royal symbols that don't have much to do with Fiji). So perhaps the Louis XV crown should be used after all? Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 18:36, 17 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I need a new image based on this circuit. I'm expecting that the easiest way to do this is to create an entirely new svg. In any event, please don't overwrite the original file, I'm going to use both images in the article. The changes I need are as follows;
  1. Remove all the annotation and dimensioning arrows leaving just the ciruit pattern
  2. Fade the circuit pattern to background
  3. Place a dotted-line rectangle around each circuit block
  4. Add annotation inside each rectangle large enough and bold enough to be read in thumbnail view
The annotation required, roughly in layout of circuit blocks in diagram, is as follows,
                Delay
 Hybrid                    Hybrid
 coupler                   coupler
              Crossover
 Hybrid                    Hybrid
 coupler                   coupler

@Spinningspark: Like this? TilmannR (talk) 13:55, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That's good. It's also good that you have made it more dimensionally accurate than the original which was all over the place. But that has now drawn attention to the fact that the vertical sections of the delay elements are too wide. They should be 2.99, the same as the horizontal sections, and the corners should be exactly 45° going exactly half way through the corner like in this circuit. Here's an overlay (v rushed job on OSM, but still) which shows how your image fits snugly onto the real thing. It's incredibly accurate! Do you think you could put the nun's grave in, centred? I just stuck a red dot on  :)
also, do you thikn you could do the dotted lines as well? (in orange, but no need to dash them)—you see, that shows the cloister fitting in between the big house and the road. Is this possible? @Serial Number 54129: Draft-2.
  • I have made some changes to the house when I saw the better image.
  • I would like to get a link or name of book, author, page that the better image comes from.
  • I have changed the north-rose to what I think is a more correct angel.
  • The house has opacity on it so that the cloister is visible thru it. I guessed that the house of today is not as important as the others, if I'm wrong tell me which you want to be most visible.
  • Due to the opacity this means that if the file is put on top of any color or else that will be visible to some degree thru it. We can avoid that by putting a white (or other) background on the hole file, tell me what you think, thanks. --Goran tek-en (talk) 15:26, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Goran tek-en: Bloody brilliant. Great stuff! I was going to put it over OSM, but it's far too good for that; I'l use the switcher template and keep the broader map separate. all your changes are good, thanks—and yes, the cloister, etc, is more important than the house, so fading it was a good idea. The provenance of the image is as follows:
    Turner, R. C. & McNeil-Sale, R., 'An Architectural and Topographical Study of Vale Royal Abbey', Journal of the Chester Archaeological Society 70 (1988), pp. 51-79 (fig. 3).
