  • Would this picture suffice for a picture of Hiram Blanchard. IF site is reliable, and they have not watermarked the picture, it was published in 1875, before the cutoff of 1923.

I've reorganized the lead. It starts at 19th because there were 18 assemblies before the province had its own system of responsible government. About the issue of the Assemblies, would it be helpful to put a note somewhere explaining this? Also, the external image is from the city of Montreal, so I think it should be reliable. Pie is good (Apple is the best) 00:43, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image review - Gary asked me to look at the images in this article:

  • Image:Sir William Young.jpg - Why is the date of this photograph listed as "c.1855"? It is listed as 18-- at the source. I'm not totally sure that PD is proven here:
  • I don't see evidence that it was a crown copyright.
  • It is not a photograph.
  • We don't have the dates of the creator.
  • I've changed the date to 18–. Considering the "All rights reserved", I don't think it can be used. Gary King (talk) 22:59, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Image:William annand.gif - The source link is broken and there is no author name. Without the name and dates of the author, the PD license cannot be verified.

  • Image:William Stevens Fielding.jpg - I would link this to the LAC with their template. Hopefully, it will provide evidence for the date of the image.

  • Image:John M Buchanan.jpg - Eh? What is the source? Who is the author? How was the copyright released?

    The source is listed as "My Carma" and the author is listed as "Miss. Naomi Buchanan". How do we know that "Miss Buchanan" is the same as uploader, "SweeettFriday"?   • Image:Russell MacLellan.jpg - The copyright holder needs to release this image - that might be the photographer. Also, we need some sort of OTRS ticket for this. We cannot rely on an editor's statement on the image page that the subject has released the copyright.

    I am the uploader. I responded to the appeal for a photo on the Wikipedia entry by asking Mr. MacLellan for one. I followed standard practice of asking for copyright clearance under a GNU Free Documentation License once I had established that MacLellan himself was the copyright holder. The message I conveyed to him was as follows: "Your photo would be used under a GNU Free Documentation License which allows you to retain copyright and authorship, but grants permission for others to use, copy, and share this image freely, and even potentially use it commercially, as long as they do not try to claim the copyright themselves, or try to prevent others from using or copying it freely." I have a copy of Mr. MacLellan's letter dated March 18, 2008 which accompanied two photos. It reads: "Mr. Bruce Wark: I hereby authorize you to use the two attached photographs of myself, described on the back as RM1 and RM2, for any purposes you see fit, including commercial purposes." I'm not sure what to do about this. I have a letter from Mr. MacLellan himself granting unrestricted use, but permissions wants to see the message I sent him as well as the photos he sent me. I don't have the message because I spoke to him verbally. I'd say the only way out of this impasse is for me to draft a letter and get him to sign it, but that will take time. I'm not sure what to suggest. Do you want to delete the image until I get all the paperwork done? I thought I was doing a good thing getting that photo, but now I wish I'd never got involved in this. After reading the email, it looks like this issue will probably not be resolved before this nomination ends. Therefore, I am removing the image for now until it is resolved.     • What does "---" mean for some of the entries under Parliament? Not clear.
    • Why have normal readable dates in table and then ISO non-readable dates in the references? You can just be consistent within the article and make it all human readable...
    • Why is minority government in bold?
    • Not keen on (1st time of 2) - can't we use text for this? First of two spells as Premier? And the heading of the table doesn't cover that third line, so it's not 100% clear.
