Any reason fro forcing the image down? Looks... off.
  • Basically because I felt that if it was at the top, it would be 'representing Gower', while placing it slightly further down doesn't. I don't really know – it's annoying not to have a picture of Gower, and without any picture it looked bland. Harrias talk 13:18, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Most of these lists note when the player was named man of the match, and Gower was in some of these. Any reason for not noting this?

  • Odd image, odd placement, caption needs a full stop if it stays. Shame we don't have a free-to-use Gower image. Surely someone out there has a picture of him? Perhaps beg at WT:CRIC?
  • See comment above regarding the image and placement. I put the full-stop that User:Utinsh removed back.
  • Batting order is a dab page.
  • Fixed.
  • "since Peter May.[2]" in what year?
  • Fixed, added "in 1951."
  • "He was awarded an Order..." I think it's typically "the Order..."

  • No need to link common places, like London.
  • Fixed unlinked.
  • You have "unbeaten" and "not out" both linking to not out. Could be confusing. Perhaps use the star notation, linking it the first time and then not subsequently?
  • This has been mentioned before for Kallis' list. I don't like repeating not out, and I don't like using the star notation, because it is often hard to tell it is linked on the first usage, and without being able to tell that, it can be difficult to work out what it is there for.

  • "he progressed to pass " just "he passed" is fine.
  • Fixed as suggested.
  • "Test cricket; amassing 215" should be a comma, not a semi-colon.

  • "in his second match for England when he was 114 not out at the close of the innings" need context, year, opponent, location etc.
  • Fixed added year and opponent, not location.
  • "which in the context of ODI cricket was both his highest score,[1] and at the time, the highest score by any England batsman" perhaps "which was both his highest ODI score,[1] and a the time, the highest ODI score by any England batsman"?
  • I wanted to avoid repetition of ODI, which was getting pretty heavy at this point of the prose.
  • "Despite playing ODI cricket for England until 1991, Gower's final century in the format came in June 1985 against Australia, when he scored 102" this reads rather awkwardly to me. I would be tempted to reverse the order, like, Gower's ODI century.. despite his retirement six years later (or something...!)
  • I can't work out anything less awkward myself: a full length suggestion would be appreciated, but personally I can't see anything wrong with what I've written (not that that means anything: I often can't!)

  • The quote needs to be referenced directly (or, at least, at the end of the sentence).
  • Removed quote, and replaced with simply "..a graceful style.."
  • At the end of that specific sentence? It is covered in the first ref, which is the following sentence. I've got no problem with having the same reference two sentences in a row, it just seems overkill. Harrias talk 16:54, 27 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
