Wikipedia has too many polls
edit- Finally a poll I can get behind. -- Cyrius|✎ 02:02, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
- Best poll ever. Redwolf24 (talk) 02:04, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
- So stop answering 'em and get back to editing. Stlemur 02:09, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
- There are too many articles on politicians. There are probably politicians editing too. Something needs to be done. --GraemeL (talk) 17:56, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
Wikipedia has about the right number of polls
edit- Someone has to fill this option... note that polls are ok, but votes are evil. --Titoxd 06:14, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
Wikipedia has too few polls
edit- Someone's got to disagree or the process just isn't fun! Consensus? What's that? And how can you vote-pad or bully your way into winning a consensus? Fewer polls would make all my sockpuppets useless. Guettarda 03:04, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
- To people who can't tell the difference, that's a joke, not an admission of sockpuppetry.
- A joke? What's that? And how can you make a good joke if you tell everyone right after? Dmcdevit·t 03:26, September 5, 2005 (UTC)
- After some of the encounters I have had recently, with people who slap "sockpuppet" templates on the pages of users who admit to have switched to a new user name, people utterly lacking any sense of humour...After I wrote it and saved it and looked at it I thought I should add the disclaimer before people were trying to haul me up before the arbcomm for sockpuppetry...I realise it ruined the joke, which is unfortunate... - Polls are the first and best measure against administrative elitism. Everyking 07:43, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
- Polls are great as long as you don't treat them as the end all be all to everything. Karmafist 18:51, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
- I believe that polls are the greatest and most accurate way of deciding which edits are valid. I love polls almost as much as I love Proposals. If fact I propose a "Poll Page" be attched to each and every article. The purpose being people can vote on wheter or not an edit should stand or if the page should be reverted. They can also poll whether an edit should be made in the first place. I really believe this will result in less edits per page and better pages overall. Yup, that's what I belive....sure is.... - Trevor MacInnis(Talk | Contribs) 21:05, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
- I concur with prior statements: if Wikipedia and its undercrowd intend it to become an all-encompassing compendium of knowledge, polls are vital. The more polls, poles, Poles, and others, the merrier (and more 'multipolar') Wp will be. :) E Pluribus Anthony 07:25, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
- Wikipedia needs more poles of order n, preferable for large n! -- SCZenz 09:02, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

- Please, don't make a Wikipedia:Does Wikipedia have too many "Does Wikipedia have too many polls?" polls? poll. Also, you may be interested by Voting is a tool. Andre (talk) 02:49, September 5, 2005 (UTC)

edit- In several cases (binding) majority votes are being held instead of polls, I'm not really happy with that. Kim Bruning 02:07, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
- Are there any particular instances? The only one I can think of is the Gdansk/Danzig affair, and that's always been exceptional. Exceptionally stupid, that is. (To avoid offence, I mean to the people who edit war over the matter). Just my thoughts: it isn't voting that's the problem, it's counting. [[smoddy]] 16:28, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
- Polls are evil is a vague guideline and convenient slogan, not a foundation issue. And of course its nature makes it difficult to determine a consensus on it. the wub "?/!" 08:25, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
Poles
edit- More Poles would help ;) =Nichalp «Talk»= 07:10, September 6, 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, Comrade Nichalp, let's turn all of Wikipedia into one big Gdanskzig-style bruhaha :) →Raul654 07:19, September 6, 2005 (UTC)
- Oh, I thought you wanted to fill it with ends of magnets, or vertical metal bars. I know! We should have more Cardinal Poles! Dmcdevit·t 07:34, September 6, 2005 (UTC)
- The problem with those poles is they always seem to come in pairs. →Raul654 07:37, September 6, 2005 (UTC)
- Actually I'm quite sure there was only one Reginald Cardinal Pole, unless he was a twin. In which case it would have been quite miraculous for them to both have been made Cardinals. Dmcdevit·t 07:42, September 6, 2005 (UTC)
