Amitabh Bachchan edit

Hullo Yoasif, I'm one of the main editors of the Amitabh article, and I'm kinda wondering about the cleanup notice. It feels unfriendly, though it may not have been intended that way. If you feel the article needs improvement, it would be nice to lay out your concerns in the article's talk page, rather than just add a cleanup notice. That leaves me wondering just what you think is wrong. Zora 21:27, 23 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Redirects edit

Just to let you know that links to specific parts of pages don't work in redirects. The only way to link to a specific part of a page would be to use a piped link (eg [[Page name#Subject|Page name]]); #REDIRECT [[Page name#Subject]] doesn't get the same result. -- Francs2000 | Talk   17:28, 6 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Isos5.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Isos5.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Proposed deletion of Cairo (typeface) edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Cairo (typeface), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Unlikely to have any more information that the name of the designer.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. -- Mark Chovain 03:47, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Quippd edit

A tag has been placed on Quippd requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Thanks Umervakil 18:17, 24 August 2010 (UTC) (talk)

Thanks edit

Hey thanks for the invitation. I am not exactly sure if having now an additional news website is the best idea, unless it is very popular, as it would dilute rather than centralize.

However this opens up a new hope for me. I usually edit the current events portal, and i always hope more people will use it. However only on average 30,000 indivisual people use it a day, DOWN from 50,000 two years ago oddly enough. If I join your news website I hope publicity will be a main factor in the game, so we can attempt to re-centralize things. Sopher99 (talk) 02:40, 29 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Another problem I find is that the news entries people post are actually somewhat silly and not serious enough, and most of it strives form opinions, and major headlines are not covered. Compared to the New york times website and even wikipedia current events the format is not even that good either. There has to be some way you can improve those things. Sopher99 (talk) 02:45, 29 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

When did you create your website? The idea of news editing like that is great and I believe it has potential to be common-day news name. If you can fix up the website design and format. Sopher99 (talk) 02:49, 29 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for all this cristism but you may also in the future want to change the website name. Quippd is a hard one for people to remember.Sopher99 (talk) 02:52, 29 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

My first suggestion of the format would be to remove those pictures on the sides of the entries, and instead the pictures would be on the user pages. If you don't already have user pages, make some, they will be great for collaboration of ideas. Pictures on the sides of the entries distract the mind and make it seem messy or goofy. The Titles of the entries themselves should also be links to make travel easier. Each entry should be spaced out a little more too, to make it seem less cramp. Sopher99 (talk) 02:59, 29 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

The text for entry titles could be larger, but not humungous of coarse. The User name and the Updated part should stay exactly the same. Also lets just talk on your page only, or my page if you request.Sopher99 (talk) 03:13, 29 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

I was planning on changing the base font size to 15px. It is 13px now. So everything would be slightly larger. --Yoasif (talk) 03:16, 29 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

You should also in the future make things into general categories, such a wikipedia current events portal has now or the new york times websites has. Sopher99 (talk) 03:18, 29 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Planned, we figured it was pointless at the moment due to the lack of content. --Yoasif (talk) 04:41, 29 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Also the entries text should be deep black like the "popular stories from around the web" is, or even slightly dark blue. Sopher99 (talk) 03:20, 29 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Those hearts that signify how many people like the entry should be removed and placed at the bottom of each story page, also instead of a heart there should be a green arrow up and red arrow down, green one signifies like, red dislike, they will be one time only clickable for each story as well. Sopher99 (talk) 03:23, 29 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

We see this as a mechanism for sharing -- is there any particular reason that you would prefer it to be lower? --Yoasif (talk) 04:41, 29 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'm going to be out of wikipedia for an hour or so. Sopher99 (talk) 03:25, 29 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of List of current Superior Court judges of the District of Columbia edit

The article List of current Superior Court judges of the District of Columbia has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Essentially, this is a list of persons who are not notable. None have articles. And service on this court does not create inherent notability. Therefore, it is a list with no useful purpose. Wikipedia is not a directory. Additionally, maintenance on this list is iffy at best and the article itself indicates it has not had a major update since 2011, meaning it is way out of date and likely very inaccurate. If this was a list of notable people, updating it rather than deletion would be appropriate. But it is not, so delete.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Num Pang moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Num Pang, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ~~Cheers~~Mgbo120 20:25, 16 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
