Creating a Wikipedia article

Hi. Just a couple of things. You can't "take down" a Wikipedia page. Only an admin can. If you wish to experiment on Wikipedia you should use your sandbox, not create fake articles. They'll only get deleted.

Once you've tried things out on your your sandbox, you might want to try creating a real article.

School projects

Despite the extra workload, we do welcome schools and colleges. (OK. most of us do...) However, the rules still have to be followed. We don't have articles about non-existent subjects, unless they are notable - see San Seriffe which isn't a hoax, but is about one of the best hoaxes around. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, not an exercise book. If you want to make an article about a proper subject, and it must be one we don't already have an article on, you are welcome. Make sure it's notable WP:GNG and that you can find reliable independent sources WP:RS to prove it. OK? Now, if your teacher/lecturer/whatever really did tell you to create a fake article and to take it down after assessment, I've two things to say. One - you can't take it down yourself. Only admins (like me) can do that. Two - would you please ask your teacher/lecturer/whatever to contact me? It could be that they don't understand how Wikipedia works as well as they thought. Thanks. I'm sorry, but I have deleted your sandbox as well. Sandboxes are intended for things being worked on which might become part of the encyclopedia, but this clearly is not: it comes under WP:CSD#G3 blatant hoax and also WP:FAKEARTICLE. Wikipedia is a project to build an encyclopedia, and that is all it is, and to keep to that core task there is a long list of things that Wikipedia is not, including Wikipedia is not a Web hosting service. I'm sure you could easily set up a Myspace account for your school project about an imaginary party, or you might get other ideas from Wikipedia:Alternative outlets.
