Just wanted to let you know that I just answered your question on my RfA. Thank you for your questions and please feel free to let me know if you have any further questions for me. - Jameson L. Tai talkcontribs 20:05, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

RfA thanks

Thank you for voting in my RfA, which was unsuccessful with 19 support, 18 oppose, and 5 neutral. I have signed up for admin coaching and will retry later on in a couple more months.

Thanks for asking those funny questions. They were a blast to answer and gave my a great boost on my support ticket. Even though the RfA didn't pass, at least the answers from the respective questions you asked changed many minds and supported me during the last 48 hours of my RfA. Anyways, thanks again for your support, and I enjoyed answering those questions. - Jameson L. Tai talkcontribs 04:37, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

My usurpation

Yes. This is so the owner of the name you want has time to say "no". Usually, people with accounts old enough to not have their creation logged will not say "no" because they've forgotten about Wikipedia, so you don't have much to worry about. XENON54 | talk | who? | 01 Feb 2008 12:00GMT
ACtually, I am not worried if that user will say no. I targeted Feb 1 to change username. Some kinda important. Well, we can do nothing. --BritandBeyonce (talk) 12:06, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

SpongePedia

Hello, this is Andrewrox, I am sorry about the external link thing, I did not know, the reason why I did it was becuase the people from the wikia did the same thing. Would I be able to say for example on the List of S.B.S.P. Episodes, can i make a link to the list of characters and/or episodes from SpongePedia? It's not advertising, just giving the readers on more options to look at more detailed info :), I am truly sorry, but I should be able to put external links to websites but only for characters and stuff :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Andrewrox (talkcontribs) 05:54, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Usurp of Matthew Edwards ← Matthewedwards

I have a couple of questions regarding what you said, that my current account will no longer exist, and I will have to reregister it to prevent impersonation.

When will this happen? Am I going to log in one day and it won't let me? Do I use my current password to log into the new one, and would all my edit history, userpages and subpages transfer over? I didn't expect it to go like this. I expected to keep my current one and use the other as a doppelganger. -- Matthew | talk | Contribs 02:48, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Seven days from now, you will be unable to log in to Matthewedwards. Everything will be transferred to Matthew Edwards, and your old user and user talk pages, as well as any subpages, will redirect. However, Matthewedwards will no longer exist. You will have to go to Special:Userlogin and recreate it. For example, I was renamed from NASCAR Fan24 to Xenon54. User:NASCAR Fan24 redirected to my userpage, but the NASCAR Fan24 account didn't actually exist. (If you went to Special:Listusers, you wouldn't see it.) I had to re-create it and now it is a doppelganger account. XENON54 | talk 11:40, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

I just created User:Matthewedwards usurp account as a doppleganger account (it redirects to User:Matthewedwards). Can I now use this to usurp User:Matthew Edwards if I state so at the Usurp page? -- Matthew | talk | Contribs 03:13, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

No, you will have to go to Wikipedia:Changing usernames becuase Matthewedwards won't exist. XENON54 | talk 11:40, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

WP:CHU clerking

I mean this in the nicest possible way, but please refrain from clerking at Wikipedia:Changing username and Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations if you're going to give incorrect advice, as you did here. The user then moved on to create a second account to request the usurpation, and it generally disrupted the process there. So, politely, please only leave notes on matters you're sure of. Thanks. Qst (talk) 20:20, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, but are you telling me to stop completely or to continue clerking, but only comment on matters that I'm 100% sure of the correct action? XENON54 | talk 20:43, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Silverdollarsam110353 → Silverdollarsam

Where an account has very few contributions, they aren't going to be able to usurp an account as this is reserved for reasonably established users. There isn't a lot of point suggesting they make a usurpation request that will ultimately be turned down. Unless they already have significant contributions to other Wikimedia projects under the same name (in which case usurpation will be performed to unify logins despite the lack of local contributions) its probably better to suggest to users with very few edits that they request a different name. Protection level

What was the protection level for your userpage? I have accidentally changed it, and would like to change it back. --Cheers, LAX 13:54, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

It was indefinite semi-protection. Just curious, but how did you change the level by accident? Xenon54 13:58, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
I was using a script of DerHexer's in which a table of admin features (delete, block, and protect) appearers on the side of the page (directly above the search box). And as I was going to go search for something, I accidentally hit a protection button, which then chaged the protection. It was an honest mistake and I will change it back. --Cheers, LAX 17:20, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Wdef

How do you create a Wdef template? 71.193.65.110 (talk) 01:37, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

First you have to create an account so you can create the necessary user subpage. All I did, since I'm not a coding genius, was copy the code from the Nautical version, play with it a bit (to change the level descriptions, etc) and create my own images using Inkscape. Then you add it to Template talk:Vandalism information. Xenon54 02:42, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

SICA

Please, consider removing the speedy deletion tag you put on The Central American Integration System. Its notability is on par with The African Union, The Caribbean Community, The Commonwealth Secretariat, The European Community, INTERPOL, The International Organization of la Francophonie, The League of Arab States, and The Organization of the Islamic Conference, among others. Yes, it's a stub but I think your RCing was; pardon me for saying so; hasty and ill-advised. I wish you well.

)--Thecurran (talk) 23:58, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Replied on user talkpage. For the record, I didn't tag the page and it was a valid A3 speedy when I patrolled it and when the article was tagged. Xenon54 00:03, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
I think it's important to check notability with a quick Google Seah, before speedys are issued, because if that was valid, we, as WP, let our audience, the World, down. I thought you said at the top of your page that you would reply on your page and I should reply on your page, if that's where the discussion started; at least it seems you imply as much when you suggest your readers follow such criteria when discussions start on their own pages. That's why I checked my page just before writing on yours. I'd like to know how the speedy was issued, because I followed the links straight to you and I don't really know you. This time I'm going to my page after finishing this to see if you've already answered these questions you inspired in me. :)--Thecurran (talk) 00:14, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
But I didn't tag the page in the first place! All I did was patrol the page, which means that the yellow highlight on Special:Newpages is removed from the entry for the page, signaling to other patrollers that they don't need to look at that page anymore. If you dispute the tagging, then take it up with Ros0709, who actually requested the speedy deletion. You don't have to anyway, as the speedy was refused some seventeen minutes ago. As for the "I'll reply here" template, sometimes if I don't believe that you are expecting a reply, I'll respond on yours. Xenon54 00:18, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
I've read your remark on my page. Thank you for telling me who tagged it. I'll get off your back. I just wanted someone in authority to realize that somehow, we left a glaring omission and speedy deleting it as soon as it went up was valid under current regulations, so that someone in charge of those regulations might consider altering them I still don't understand why you defied your own headlining convention to remark on my page after I had remarked on yours, and seemingly in response to my original remark. Oh, well. Have fun wherever you are. :)--Thecurran (talk) 00:25, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Why does the link on my page from the Speedy notifying bot take me to you, the patroller, instead of to the issuer? BTW, thanks for being so noble, but maybe you should lose some weight if you want to see yourself in neon signs; I know my chem. jokes are all grin-and-bear-its. :)--Thecurran (talk) 00:30, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
(There is subsequent discussion at User_talk:Ros0709#SICA). Ros0709 (talk) 09:47, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism Template

  • Hi, I noticed you recently dropped the vandalism level 2 levels, from High to Guarded. I'm intrigued as to why, just because I've been monitoring vandalsim as well, and it still seems rather severe. But I am not one to revert other peoples edits, as long they are not vandalism. Would you mind posting a message on my talk page explaining why> And possibly, the vandal level could be changed to moderate? But it should be discussed first, thanks. Steve Crossin (talk) 21:49, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
  • Well, fair enough, I suppose, but, I saw that your only action while you were back on was to update the template, and, several people, like me, were still fighting vandalism, and it was higher than normal. I re-elevated the level to 3, and then, not long after, it was raised to 2. SO, vandalism still was pretty high. Steve Crossin (talk) 02:37, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
