If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Contested deletion

edit

This page should not be speedily deleted because we are trying to set up a Wikipedia page much like any other sports league and organization. Examples include Valour FC, Canada Soccer, and the NFL. We are not attempting to set up an advertising page or violate any of the terms and conditions of Wikipedia. We want to comply with your platform requirements and add the vast credibility of Wikipedia. I am new to starting a Wikipedia page and thus only started with our 'About WYSA' statement and cited it from our website. We have a lot of content to prove the importance /significance of our page but I don't want to invest a tremendous amount of time into this endeavor if we'll just be suspended or deleted. This first edit/submission was really a test on my end to see how Wikipedia editing worked. I am the Executive Director for WYSA and want to represent ourselves professionally and meet the values and goals of Wikipedia. Any assistance to staying in keeping with the requirements and values of Wikipedia would be greatly welcomed. Please let me know if I can provide any further information to help resolve this. Thank you.

Winnipeg Youth Soccer, please note that Wikipedia is not a platform for advertising, promotion or soapboxing. Also, if you wish to start an article on your football team, please do so in the draftspace, as you have a conflict of interest with the team (being its executive director). Please don't think that we aren't in need of your article; rather, we welcome helpful contributions from all. However, to maintain standards of quality and reliability, we discourage users from writing articles involving a conflict of interest. For more information, see Wikipedia's policies about Conflict of Interest. JavaHurricane 06:22, 26 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Winnipeg Youth Soccer: Please note that you cannot use your own website content verbatim. You cannot use copyrighted material on Wikipedia - even if you are the copyright holder - unless you agree to release it permanently and irrevocably into the public domain or under a license that is compatible with Wikipedia's. This is because all content on Wikipedia is free to copy, distribute and use to create derivative works (even for commercial purposes), so all submitted content must be licensed for that purpose.
Organizations must be notable to be considered worthy of inclusion. This means the organization must have received significant coverage from multiple reliable and independent sources. Wikipedia has no interest in what an organization wishes to say about itself. Primary sources like your website can be used only to supply basic facts and figures, but won't count towards establishing notability. Self-published sources like blogs, press releases and social media are disqualified because they lack the required independence from the subject, reputation for fact-checking and editorial oversight.
Assuming you are able to show that this organization is suitably notable, you won't have any right of ownership or editorial control over its article. The neutral point of view policy will ensure that both positive and negative information is included, provided it is worded neutrally and with proper balance. This is why we discourage people with an inherent conflict of interest from writing about topics where they have a personal or professional involvement, as it is difficult for them to write with the required objectivity.
Finally, as you have discovered your username violates Wikipedia's username policy. Accounts cannot represent organizations or be shared by more than one person. An account must represent and be accessed by the same individual only. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 22:33, 26 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text

{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.

 Thank you. Cabayi (talk) 07:25, 26 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
