August 2020 edit

  Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. This is just a note to let you know that I've moved the draft that you were working on to Draft:Yadvendradev Vikramsinh Jhala, from its old location at User:Wildliferesearcher/sandbox. This has been done because the Draft namespace is the preferred location for Articles for Creation submissions. Please feel free to continue to work on it there. Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Wildliferesearcher. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Yadvendradev Vikramsinh Jhala, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Kj cheetham (talk) 10:49, 10 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi,

There is no conflict of interest or any payments being made for this article. The aim is to build a repository of key people in Wildlife from India on Wikipedia, out of my own volition. -- Wildliferesearcher (talk) 22:13, 10 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Wildliferesearcher, just to confirm, do you know Yadvendradev Vikramsinh Jhala in person? Do you work with them? -Kj cheetham (talk) 22:17, 10 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hi Kj cheetham, I work under him but know about his legacy as a student of wildlife science in India. This page isn't being created on his instructions in any manner. Like any other university across the world, this an effort of students and fellow academicians who have sent pics and relevant details, much of which is in public domain, including his achievements and research work, easily available on a google search on multiple credible sources. Some fellow reviewer however, has not taken the pain to verify the sources and the work/facts cited and simply removed so much of crucial information.

However, you are welcome to look things up on your own through the remaining links in references, articles that link back to this page demonstrating his contributions in wildlife across the world. Thanks! --Wildliferesearcher (talk) 22:30, 10 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your reply. The fact you work under him, even if you're not directly asked to edit the article or being paid for it, is a potential conflict of interest, so I will tag the talk page accordingly. Anything stated on Wikipedia that isn't backed up by a source can be potentially removed by other editors - ideally the sources would be easy to find, so no need for any pain. :) -Kj cheetham (talk) 22:36, 10 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! Kj cheetham --Wildliferesearcher (talk) 22:07, 11 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Just a reminder that given your conflict of interest you need to refrain from editing the article directly and need to request changes via the talk page. GRINCHIDICAE🎄 00:40, 12 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • I believe there is little outside reviewers would know even if credible sources are available in the public domain, else there is no point of anyone being a creator. There has to be some level of personal drive towards the cause of wikipedia as well as the subject, beyond the conflict of interest of course. The article is published publicly and I have understood that credible sources need to be cited which I shall do. Also, I understand there is a point to undo changes function available in wikipedia. Of course, common courtesy entails having a communication with reviewers where there seems to be a lack of it due to limited remarks while publishing. However, I understand the spirit in which the remark is made. Thanks. Have a nice day. -- Wildliferesearcher (talk) 00:59, 12 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

author-link edit

Hello, regarding your edits about one of my favourite authors:

| last3 = Jhala

on Wikipedia we include an extra paramater |author-link=Yadvendradev Vikramsinh Jhala|

Please refer to the example at WP:CITET. The current edits are at risk of Citation bot returning them as they were. William Harris (talk) 23:01, 10 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

For example, at Wolf, you can see how this code has been changed to the correct form: Special:Diff/999559223/999562825. You can read more information about how to write the code for citations at pages such as Template:Cite journal and Template:Cite book. —2d37 (talk) 09:19, 11 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hi William Harris. Thanks for the information. Will keep this in mind next time!
