Welcome! edit

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! July 2016 edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Tufail Ahmad. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose editing privileges. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a loss of editing privileges. Thank you. @SheriffIsInTown and Kautilya3: I am indeed new to Wikipedia. But by looking at what you doing my contributions and of others you seem to be clearly Islamophobic. The other point of view means nothing to you. I will keep contributing things I find are "DUE" to be mentioned. You can keep on reverting and keep hiding your Islamophobia behind Wiki Rules you keep flaunting. I am tagging a User I saw who tried teaching you Wiki Rules on your talk page. Have fun. Wikiercomer (talk) 19:35, 20 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Dear Wikiercomer, Wikipedia is not a platform. It must be written with a neutral point of view. Neither is it the place to settle debates between Tufail Ahmad and Zafarul Islam Khan. I have initiated a talk page discussion, and it is up to you to follow it up and propose consensus text and reach agreement with other involved editors. Please desist from making personal attacks like you have done above and follow Wikipedia policies. Pinging NeilN for further advice. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 20:27, 20 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Wikiercomer, this edit summary is unacceptable. Focus on discussing content, not on contributors. Any further unsubstantiated aspersions may result in blocks. Also, your Hashim Ansari article consisted of text copied from other sources and so has been deleted. Please read the information about copyright I added below. --NeilN talk to me 20:44, 20 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Hashim Ansari at his home in Faizabad.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Hashim Ansari at his home in Faizabad.jpg, which you've attributed to Altamash Ansari. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 20:06, 20 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Diannaa: If there is a 69-day queue at permissions-en@wikimedia.org how come you gave only 7 days for deletion. Also I gave all the details of the copyright holder and wikipedia allowed uploading, what was the need to be so quick to queue this for deletion? Wikiercomer (talk) 06:54, 21 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
There's no reason to worry; since the image is now tagged as OTRS pending, the deletion tag can be removed. If there's no permission email received, the image will eventually be deleted, but not until at least 69 days have gone by. — Diannaa (talk) 12:47, 21 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. The creator of the image has sent the required email. Wikiercomer (talk) 18:48, 22 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia and copyright edit

Hello Wikiercomer, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. NeilN talk to me 20:34, 20 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

@NeilN and Kautilya3: If text is not sourced from reliable sources you delete it. If text is sourced from reliable sources both of you delete it for one reason of the other. Was wikipedia made in one day? You could have marked the page for urgent edits. Hashim Ansari is a notable person. At least for 200 million Muslims of India. But you chose to delete the page, instead of marking edits on it as I have seen on many wiki pages. I had ask a few journalist friends to gather basic biographical information about him. But now I feel when those will be added both of you will delete it for any reason. When there are too many laws, it is easy to keep people confused citing one law or the other to keep information out of wikipedia. Thanks. Wikiercomer (talk) 05:53, 21 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Dear Wikiercomer, I understand that you are frustrated but it takes time to learn how to edit within Wikipedia policies. You need to stay engaged, carry out discussions on talk pages, listen to what the experienced users tell you, read up on policies that you are referred to, and gain experience through all these means. I haven't seen the Hashim Ansari page, but you can request NeilN to reinstate it into your userspace and you can work on it until it becomes acceptable. Please note that copyright violation policies are non-negotiable. They are dictated by Law. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 09:30, 21 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Of course you understand my frustration. You seem to be an expert at this. Is it my responsibility that a page has to "perfect" before it goes live? Or that Wikipedia has diverse information. That wikipedia looks to give WP:DUE weight to everything and everyone. If it a developing page is in my UserSpace I dont it will get eyeballs of other contributors. I have asked NeilN to atleast let this novice know how to get the content of the deleted page. Deleting pages and sections will not effect me this time. I will keep contributing in whatever time I get. Let the revert army do its job. I will do mine. Wikiercomer (talk) 10:36, 21 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Your edit summary asks, "Is it my personal responsibility to make wikipedia Neutral?" The answer is no. However, it is your responsibility to make everything you contribute is neutral. As a beginning editor, you will get some leeway. But, if you persist with adding non-NPOV content repeatedly and ignore warnings, you are liable to be sanctioned. The "revert army," as you call it, consists of editors who have their own work to do. If you keep creating work for them needlessly, it will be considered WP:DISRUPTIVE. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 11:33, 21 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
As to how to get other editors to eyeball your draft, you can post on relevant talk pages, e.g., Talk:Babri Masjid, and invite other editors to read and give you feedback on it. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 11:37, 21 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
I can email you the contents of the deleted page (Kautilya3, we don't restore copyright violations anywhere). We do not expect you to create perfect pages. We do expect you not to commit copyright infringements. --NeilN talk to me 11:44, 21 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks (NeilN. I will be redoing the whole thing, Hashim Ansari deserves much more than a wikipage. Wikiercomer (talk) 18:47, 22 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Wikiercomer, you are continuing to caste WP:ASPERSIONS, despite NeilN's warning. Please comment on the content, not the editors. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 20:04, 22 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Ballia Khabar edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ballia Khabar, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
