Ambiguous link edit

Thank you for your recent edit to Comrade. Your edit included one or more links to the page Tamil, which is a disambiguation page. This type of page is intended to direct users to more specific topics. Ordinarily we try to avoid creating links to disambiguation pages, since it is preferable to link directly to the specific topic relevant to the context. You can help Wikipedia by revising the links you added to Comrade to refer directly to the most relevant topic. Tamil Nadu articles edit

Depending on your interests (geography, history etc), you can improve articles under various sub-categories of Category:Tamil Nadu. You can also focus on getting any Tamil Nadu-related article to featured status. We currently have only 4 TN-related FAs. Please feel free to contact me if you have more questions. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 04:54, 16 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

BTW, good job adding the tamil translations to Tamil Nadu-related articles. Keep up the good work! Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 05:00, 16 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re:Image copyrights edit

That is a good question. Wikipedia is free content. Free content applies to images too. Images from third-party websites are considered copyrighted and cannot be used here. They can be allowed under exceptional circumstances (like when a person is dead and a free image cannot be taken). This type of usage is called Fair-use and is very restrictive. There is a greater awareness on image copyrights these days. Flickr is a good example where users can upload images and release them under a Creative Commons license. Free images can be uploaded to Commons for use in all Wikipedias.

The Karunanidhi image that you refer to cannot be used under Fair use, since it is an image of a living person showing how he looks like. A free-alternative has to be found. Hopefully someone will take a picture of him and upload it here under a free-license.

Hope that clarifies. Let me know if you have more questions. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 00:39, 18 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
