Hi. I'm a little puzzled by your message on my talk page - have I been impolite?

Anyway... please just help as you see fit. Continue doing what you've been doing already. As you get more involved you might find new things you want to work on, but signing up to the WikiProject doesn't require any increased involvement or commitment.

With regards to Shea Stadium, I'm not familiar with the source you quote. Who was it written by? Can it be considered reliable? We can change the attendance and add a footnote if need be (The Beatles article is sorely in need of references anyway). --kingboyk 10:45, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. If you would like to click the talk link, kindly provided by Kingboyk, above you will find "the editors" discussing the upcoming monthly newsletter. If you feel there is anything worth mentioning, then please do so. If you would care to proofread the Newsletter as it is being created that would be helpful, as would any other input.

The Project is very much a collabarative effort, and we are trying to get the Newsletter to reflect that - so I am trying to get a few other editors involved. As a new member you may have some ideas; also, I am going to be including the outcome of the discussion about capitalising the The, in which you were involved - it would be great if you were to agree with the wording (I am going to invite Lukobe to give his approval too) so it can be fairly presented.

If it is any comfort I found myself involved in the first newsletter after being a project member for only a few weeks. It seems as good a way of finding out about things as any!LessHeard vanU 20:03, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

After a weekend of brainstorming, the Newsletter is largely complete. It could likely do with a bit of spell-checking, and it is always a good idea to have some-one fresh come in to review it - as the editors are likely too close to it to see any obvious flaws. If you wish to do that, then please do.

The best place for testing out how things work is your own userpage - that way nobody complains if you get it wrong. Beatles News Apple Corps v. Apple Computer. A case brought by Apple Corps against Apple Computer, regarding possible infringement of a previous agreement between the two parties in respect of distribution of music, was heard in a London High Court. The story made Wikipedia's front page due to a nomination by our own Kingboyk. The story had an amusing second wave in the news and on Wikipedia; be sure to read the article on Guy Goma if you missed it! Project News The Beatles article has been approved for inclusion in Wikipedia Version 0.5, making it one of the first 20 articles to be selected and the first in the Music category. The Beatles discography has been improved, thanks particularly to the efforts of Analogdemon and Steelbeard1. The Ringo Starr solo single It Don't Come Easy has been co-adopted by simonthebold. Eleven new articles have been listed in the Project Log since 1 May. The hottest Project page this month has been Policy Talk, where some lively discussion has taken place regarding the (perennial) question of the capitalisation of the letter T in "The Beatles". After seeking the comments of Wikipedian third parties unrelated to the project, the proponents and opponents concluded that the current naming policy was correct. The discussion had the added bonus of bringing in some new members. Kingboyk and Lar have instigated an overhaul of the article classification system involving the project talk page template and the possible use of MathBot. Member News New members to the project this month include Analogdemon, HighwayCello, Wootking, Lukobe, Crestville, Vera, Chuck & Dave, JaymzSpyhunter and Brian.D. Project member (and "co-instigator" of The Beatles Project) Lar was made an Administrator. Project member Kingboyk (the other guilty party) has been awarded a Music Barnstar for his contributions, including his work within The Beatles Project, and has also stewarded the KLF article to Featured Article status this month. Olive Oil Branch

Alright? I was wondering if you want to help improve the beatles song pages. The Beatles portal is stacked with helpful friendly folk who know their stuff [though truth be told yer a bit grumpy ;)]. Anyway, in spite of this, some of the song pages are a tad sloppy. I was hoping we could make a more complete page for each of the songs. The singles don't need much work, but the albums tracks are weak, including your name-sake. Some don't even have infoboxes. Beatles News Billy Preston, often considered the Fifth Beatle, died on 6 June at age 59. The American soul musician was a long term friend of The Beatles and was the only person to receive joint credit on a Beatles single ("Get Back"). Preston was an Apple Records recording artist and he performed at George Harrison's Concert for Bangladesh and at the Concert for George, both energetic and memorable performances. He also played regularly with The Rolling Stones and a number of other artists. Apple Corps has combined forces with Cirque du Soleil to create a show called "LOVE", featuring music by The Beatles, to be produced at the Mirage theatre in Las Vegas. The deal is reportedly worth US$30 million. George Harrison had originally been involved, as well as George Martin and Giles Martin. Dear Beatles editors, I have just seen a header that “The Beatles trivia“ is being considered for deletion. I would like you to take a look at it and vote to keep, or delete. George Toogood Smith up for deletion

Hello! Just to let you know, the article on George Smith, John Lennon's uncle, who raised him as a son, is up for deletion. While I in no way wish for non-notable people to be given articles purely on the basis that they are related to someone famous, Smith was like a father to Lennon and integral but oftern overlooked key in The Beatles mythology (if that's the right word). He features prominantly in any other work on or about Lennon. Vital information that cannot reasonably be included in the Lennon article. The main problem is the unfortunate article title, which highlights close connotations to the fact that he is mainly famous for his relationship to Lennon. Other than that it is a desirable article for anyone wishing to learn about John Lennon. I just thought I'd give anyone interested the oppertuninty to voice their opinions here: [[2]]. Unlike andresedge, I am not an honest person and lack morals so I have voted dispite having been personally involved, and, if things start to look grim, may vote again. I think (based on what he has done, rather than any of the big words which went over my head too) he's saying the "the" is not capitalised because it is not connected to the word "Beatles" but to the word "repetoir". It's policy to capitalise the "T" where the definitive article in question is the band, but here it is the repetoir. It's one of those rare circumstances where we just use "Beatles" rather than "The Beatles" and that the word before is "the" is just a coinsidence. I'm not sure if he's right in what he's done but I've managed to confuse myself at any rate, so not a total waste. --Crestville 22:29, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Issue of the Month Despite it being the lead news article of last month, there is still help required in the assessing of articles and the migrating of comments. Lar is willing to provide assistance to those unsure how to do this. Beatles News The Beatles in the news. Suggestions: [3] [4] Project News The Beatles article, the "Flagship" of the Project, is currently under review with regard to its Featured Article status. It is hoped that the review will identify those areas that need some(/lots of) remedial work, and that the Project participants and those editors who are involved in the the FA admin pages to can work together to "save" the status of the article. At the moment there is some discussion as to why it has been listed, and what may be needed to help it retain its FA status. It may well be that some work is going to be required in formulating a plan of action, and then some more in achieving those aims. Please Dissambiguate

Your reference to the High Court in your newsletter, and the numerous copies of it in wikipedia should be to High Court as there are numerous High Courts around the world. FedLawyer

Capitalizing "The" in the Beatles?

Why are you revising Beatles-related articles in order to capitalize the initial "T" in "the Beatles"? Proper literary style would have the group's name spelled as "the Beatles," not "The Beatles." All recognized authorities who have published books on the Beatles (including Mark Lewisohn, Bob Spitz, Nicholas Schaffner, Hunter Davies, Allan Kozinn, and Bruce Spizer) do not capitalize the "T" in "the" unless it is the first word in a sentence. If we want readers to take our articles on the Beatles seriously we need to follow the proper rules of style. You´ll like this: Two semi-professional teams playing in a half-size little stadium by the Danube in Austria, last Sunday. Attendance: 150.
