Speedy deletion nomination of Juice Magazine (Skate, Surf, and Music)

edit

A tag has been placed on Juice Magazine (Skate, Surf, and Music) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Mithrandir (Talk!) Deletion

Hi, The TM issue is just the start. First, you need independent verifiable sources that it meets the notability guidelines and to verify the facts. Secondly, it's pretty spammy. Let's look at the opening para: Juice Magazine' is a skateboarding, surfing and music magazine and includes in-depth features on the icons of our time. Juice interviews include some of the best artists, skaters, surfers and musicians in the world. Juice Magazine has been independently owned and operated since 1993. Juice also produces JuiceTV with a focus on skate, surf, music and lifestyle videos. The bold bits either need in-line references to prove they are true, or rewriting in a more neutral, encyclopaedic way. Similarly, phrases like hallowed halls are not encyclopaedic. If the name of the publication is Juice Magazine, that should be the title of the article, not Juice Magazine (Skate, Surf, and Music). Finally, best not to use state abbreviations like CA, not all your readers will be Americans Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:55, 30 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Juice (mag)

edit

A tag has been placed on Juice (mag), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

Hi VBL,
To respond to your question, I've noted some of the content cited above (from the earlier article) have not been cleared up. Read the suggestions above for that. In addition, you may wish to read up on the notability guidelines for articles. You should have a section that indicates the notability of the company. Sadly, I suspect charity work is not, otherwise there would be articles about tens of thousands of people and companies that did nothing more than donate a large sum of money to charities (such as the old lady near me who recently donated to a few big charities after winning the lottery). The other aspects of the article do not seem to portray any form of notability either. Also, I am curious, but in what position do you work for the company?
You may wish to consider writing such articles in your own user space, and then asking a very senior editor for their opinion on the article, it's notability and it's content. That will help prevent the article from being continuously deleted, foster good will, and, with that editor's "blessing" provide you someone to back up the reasons the article should be included in Wikipedia.
Best,

Hi again VBL,
This answer on my user page in answer to my question posted here (and thank you for your honesty) "I am an unpaid intern for the company and feel that it is important for the Magazine to get it's voice out there in the world." is indicative that you may have a conflict of interests regarding the subject matter. Due to the nature of some of the information (that it indicated such a COI may exist), the article was tagged as "It may have been edited by a person who has a conflict of interest with the subject matter" (in addition to the other tags).
To summarize "Do not edit Wikipedia to promote your own interests, or those of other individuals or of organizations, including employers, unless you are certain that a neutral editor would agree that your edits are in the best interest of Wikipedia." - though I would suggest you read the COI page yourself to gain a better understanding. In such matters, I have no say (other than tagging an article for such), thus you may wish to visit the COI board and talk to one of the Admins there who is charged with addressing such matters.
Best,

One followup. I would suggest, if you feel this strongly about the article, that you create it in your user space, and then contact whichever Admin deletes the current article for COI or whatever other reason to ask if they will review it for you.
You can create your own user pages in this fashion. Go to your user page, create one, go back to it, then put a slash after your profile name (in the URL bar), and type the name of the article (or however you wish to name it) after the slash. Hit enter, follow the instructions from there. I'd bookmark the page so you can get back to it easily.
For instance, to create this article in your user space (and skip some of the steps above), you could type something like this in your browser's URL bar:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:VeniceBeachLove/Juice_(magazine)
Hit Enter on the keyboard, and then follow the instructions on the page that will bring you to.
Best,

Hi,

You can find information about how to use your userspace here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:User_pages#Common_uses_of_userspace

I linked to a section (check third entry) that I think applies to this situation.

Check the links above in the welcome message you first received for more information on how to create articles, what is permitted and not, and so on.

Conflict of interest

edit

I note from one of your recent edits that you are affiliated with Juice Magazine, which you have continued to attempt to create articles for. Please see the referenced guideline above. You are strongly discouraged from writing about anything you could have any interest in promoting. Wikipedia is absolutely not for anyone or anything to "get its voice out there", it is an encyclopedia. If it really is a notable subject, someone unaffiliated with it will write about it.
