I've been involved in a protracted and rather heated argument at Talk:William Shakespeare and I don't think I can keep track of the Nanking Massacre page for some time. Anyway, after that blows over I'll take another long vocation from Wikipedia, so the Nanking page...I don't think I have either the expertise or the time to improve on the article, which certainly does need more help. 1937-1945 war

You seem to know lots about the war which is great. I think we should make a section in the article that is just about the progress of the war, like from the start of the war, and just run through the major engagements and end with the atomic bombing. I don't think the article gives a very good description of anything relating to battles, territorial changes, strategic appraisal and so forth. Most of the stuff seems to focus on background, KMT-CCP conflict, and KMT-allies conflict, instead of the "big picture".149.142.103.63 01:13, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

I agree 100%. However, I think it'd be best if we actually have all the articles for all the major battles before we assemble them. As you can probably see from Template:Campaignbox Second Sino-Japanese War, a good deal of the famous and major battles are still in red. Personally, I will try to finish these, or at least give all of them a battlebox and such, before I attempt to make significant modifications/additions to the article on the war itself. Of course, you should feel free to contribute to the article yourself... * hint hint! :D *

Hello, do you know any books on the subject? I have Osprey Publishing's The Chinese Army 1937-1949 which as extensive info on army structure and equipment, and a nice timeline listing major battles (with an over-emphasis on British burma, i might add) that the article sorely needs. It'd be great if I could get my hands on that book, but alas I am short on cash and I don't particular like the cover... (:D read my review on the link above). It'd be awesome if you could adapt what the book has into wikipedia. (Don't plagiarise, though, because that's not cool.) On a related note, I think I'll get the book as soon as I can, probably with the Heroes of the Soviet Union and/or German commanders books. :) Unfortunately I'm quite busy nowadays and likely will be until May 2006 excepting holidays and vacations and breaks, so don't expect too much from me in that regard. 忻口會戰 is a part of Battle of Taiyuan and Pingxingguan. I think the order goes like this: Pingxingguan, 忻口, then Taiyuan. The website is the ROC military history museum, so I think it's pretty reliable, but I think we need to dig out more books on it. The Chinese article got three paragraphs on the united front, which is okay. But then it got interspersed with passages about communist guerilla warfare like they were some major threat. Anyway, I probably won't edit on the chinese pages since my chinese typing speed is too damn slow :( I was pretty surprised that more than half of chinese discussion was about how the name the article, and not much on content. Overthrowing the Gongchandang

Despite our different socioeconomic beliefs our stance on political liberty seems the same (I'm -8 eco and -7 pol), and both communo-anarchists and capitalists alike agree that the Gongchandang is a mutual enemy, and Wikipedia has made enemies of the Gongchandang anyway, and it occurs so have you, so I propose we organise a front to [i]openly[/i] rebel against the Gongchandang. On Wikipedia. Yes. What do you say to this?

I can't see how this will probably be of any detriment, while having lots of potential benefit...(Sun Yat Sen himself had to start somewhere, right...?), and seeing how we're spitting in the Gongchandang's face anyway (with our brilliant tips on how to evade Gongchandang censorship)....I see all the reason why you should agree to this.

yeah the high command (Chiang Kai-shek) got the war of attrition part right but pretty much refused to let his officers have more control over battle. I think China had problems with training as well, since Chiang's german-trained troops were not that many and got significantly wasted in the early stages. China didn't have a reserve system so they just grabbed whatever people they could and pretty much forced them into enemy lines. BlueShirts 23:06, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

Invitation to the Forgotten Realms project

Hi,

We are working on a Forgotten Realms Project to map Toril (mostly Faerûn, at the present). Since you contributed quite a lot on a Forgotten Realms-specific entry, I'd like to invite you to join the project, so we could improve the “Mapping the Realms” project.

The goal is to create a sort of World Factbook for the Realms. This means:

• A consistent content
• Use of templates
• Entries should be limited to “sovereign places”: states and free cities, as well a moderately-inhabited place such as the Western Highlands.

On top of this, we also plan to cover Lost Empires, such as Pelvuria or Imaskar and, of course, Netheril

• The project is located here
• The Geographical index of Toril is a good start to get a visual of had been done, as well as the Halruaa entry.

yeah Mongolia is a pretty tacky issue. The ROC never renounced its claim over it, but the Soviet Union in the yalta conference wanted to maintain the status quo of the 1921 soviet-directed mongolian independence, thus officially making china acknowledge its independence. Also, for the manchurian issue, the roc had pretty firm control there. The soviets dismantled the industries and took them away instead of giving them to the chinese communists. Also, the soviets maintained that the only legitimate government is the roc and attempted to stop the ccp from another flare up, so I think it's okay to not add that communists had manchuria to keep things simpler. Hello, thanks for the advice. I haven't read enough about the 60 division plan, but I think we can add that to the German-trained divisions instead of this article. The first book I read dealt mostly with contacts and industrial stuff, and I omitted a lot of detail I think is too confusing for the casual reader. I also think it's best to use Wade-Giles for some terms in this article, because that's what they're most likely to be known, especially during that time period.
