Not a problem at all. I welcome the admonition that I shouldn't have been cursing. Were I to go back in time to that moment, I wouldn't have done it. Forgive my curiosity (and you are under no obligation to satisfy it), but how did you come across that conversation and what drove you to post that note? You may reply here or my talk page, as I will leave this watchlisted. Protonk (talk) 03:56, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Careful with the picture

I assume when you made this edit that you missed the bit about "Source=I created this work entirely by myself."

In a case like this, where the original creator is a known active Wikipedia editor, it's best to contact the uploader and remind him to add the appropriate release. If the Wikipedian is no longer active, it may be okay to tag an image with an informational tag that does not have side effects, but the {{di-no license}} tag has the side effect of putting the image in a speedy-deletion category. That can be easily mis-construed as a personal attack or at least uncivil behavior.

Please carefully check all articles, images, edit histories, and previous versions before using tags that put the file or article into a category, and once you get the administrator bit, please double-check everything before acting on any deletion request. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 22:42, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

A question and a comment

Regarding the image you put up for deletion - that it's an exact copy of a commons one - I'm an image idiot. I admit it. I assume my pic on my userpage will be unaffected...?

Second - why insist on breaking up conversations by replying on MY talk page? How terribly inconvenient for everyone to follow a conversation over two pages. Tan | 39 21:17, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

Album cover source

What exactly is needed for File:0 Ontario Pavilion Expo67 - A Place to Stand.jpg? Isn't the source and copyright status of an album cover pretty self-explanatory? DoubleBlue (talk) 17:33, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Okay, thanks. It just puzzled me that it was up for deletion because the source was unknown when it already stated that it was the album cover. I couldn't imagine what else needed to be said. I just prettied it up in an information box. Cheers! DoubleBlue (talk) 22:31, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. What possible difference does who scanned it make? The copyright holder and artist remain the same. The scanner/photographer is meaningless, as far as I know. DoubleBlue (talk) 00:38, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Better source request for File:Kohti_Yhdeksän_Nousua.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Kohti_Yhdeksän_Nousua.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talkpage. Thank you. Rockfang (talk) 00:45, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Conformism

No, not at all. Conformist administrators either tend to overstress procedure, even when the procedure is clearly wrong, or community approval, which will lead to excessive dramu-aversion. An effective administrator, on the other hand, will need to be able to ignore rules when they're bad rules. Even more importantly, a good administrator will need to have the strength of will to take the mop and do the Right Thing even when he absolutely, positively knows that it's going to be opposed by some vocal people.

I might be able to support your RfA in future, but not yet. ΔιγουρενΕμπρος! 03:16, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello, undead warrior

A few months ago you volunteered to adopt me. I appreciated it but I didn't do much with Wikipedia, so I haven't communicated much with you.

Now, though, I have a question about how to approach other Wikipedia editors. My company has recently had a a problem with one of its resellers. Someone has put a section up on the company's page about the incident. The description is largely true, though perhaps a little exaggerated.

My boss asked me to find out why that editor felt moved to post the account on our page when similar events are not noted on our competitor's page. Is that an appropriate question to ask? If not, how would you suggest I frame this question?

Someone suggested that I argue that the google user groups cited were hardly appropriate sources.

My other idea was to create a page about how this same problem has happened to other suppliers in the past and link to that page. Or I could add the descriptions to my competitors' pages but that hardly seems kosher.

I would appreciate your feedback on the matter. Thanks and happy new year.

Katharine908 (talk) 21:25, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Here is the link to the place where I work

Somebody added the last section when the news popped up in Google Groups. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comodo So far I have stayed out of editing our page. But in this case a) my boss asked me to look in to it and b) as I said, there are other instances where this kind of thing has happened, yet it is not noted on the competitors' pages. I would appreciate your opinion. Thanks.Katharine908 (talk) 02:18, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

COI Warning

Undead, if I read the history page correctly, it looks as if you have added the conflict of interest warning to our page. What would you like us to do to unconflict ourselves? Ideally one of the millions of users of our free software products would have felt moved to compose such a page him- or herself, but that hasn't happened, probably for the same reason I stopped editing after writing my initial article: Wikipedia's steep learning curve.

This company is an important presence in Transport Layer Security, the second-largest issuer of business-validated SSL certificates anywhere. People do want to know about my company and what it does.

I believe that the tone of our page is neutral. Moreover, the fact that my co-worker began his discussion on the talk page with disclosure of his employee status shows that we are trying to abide by the Wikipedia guidelines.

I have my own doubts about the motives of 77.103.71.10, by the way, but I won't engage in ad hominem attack here.Katharine908 (talk) 10:23, 31 December 2008 (UTC) 2:57, 31 December 2008 (UTC))

Hi.

Well, unblack metal isn't a genre, is a term to identify Christian black metal bands, that simply are bands with Christian members (don't need to be all members) and Christian lyrical themes, directly or indirectly.

I'm Christian, and sinceraly I don't like very much of the term unblack metal, black metal is a genre of music, and don't a ideology, this is my position.

This is an musical group he released in Germany and Estonia Suicidal Angels.

I have updated the Wikipedia article about Melih Abdulhayoglu, the CEO of Comodo.

I would value your opinions and edits of the article. I have tried extra-hard to keep the tone neutral. I would really appreciate your suggestions.

I feel that Melih is notable, not only for his patents, but also for his philanthropy. Because of Melih's business model, Comodo ensures that every Internet user has access to free firewall, antivirus and other security software. Comodo security software is now installed on 10 million computers worldwide. I don't know how to explain this on Melih's bio without sounding like puffery, but I wanted you to know about it.

Lucifugum

Greetings, Undead Warrior! I’m Black Pauk and I need a big favor from you. My problem is: in may 2008 I created Lucifugum article (I remember you are the guy who supported my article then, thank you). This article existed a year until in may 2009 known to you user Blackmetalbaz (with a support of his friend Dmiers) decided to delete this article. The deletion discussion was a pure circus. Nobody wanted to listen to my opinion. They (Blackmetalbaz and Dmiers) decided to delete my article at any cost and they have won. They won because they are smart and experienced users, English is a native language for them. I’m from Ukraine and I’m a huge fan of Lucifugum. As for me, it was a pure vandalism to delete the article of the one of most known and important Black Metal bands from East Europe. Since my English is enough poor and primitive it was impossible for me to “fight for the justice” with Blackmetalbaz and Dmiers, who know very well all Wikipedia rules. I’m sure, this article must exist. Not because of my wish, surely. But because it’s fair. If Wikipedia places the articles about Black Metal bands, Lucifugum must be among them, since this band is impossible to miss. That’s why I need your help very much. As a creator of this article I feel a responsibility before my “creature”. As I understood from your profile, you’re not the usual user, you have the especial authorities, and I’m sure you can help me if you want. Some time ago I asked Fabrictramp and he userfied this article to me. He also advised me to ask for help of an experienced user. But I was so stupid and created a new article instead of simply moving old article to the respective place. What a fool I am! But to be honest, I don’t know how to move the articles, because I repeat, my English is primitive, and many details in Wikipedia rules are not clear to me. Could you please “open” Lucifugum page (it’s protected now) and move my article there? Look here: User:Black pauk1488/Lucifugum}}. I’ve made some changes there, added some links to reviews etc. Of course, you can edit it as you wish, it will be even better, because without your help Blacklmetalbaz immediately will nominate it for the deletion again. To be honest, I can’t understand the motives of his bad attitude to my article. May be, he simply doesn’t like this band? But Wikipedia is about facts, but not about the personal attitude. I’m sure Blackmetalbaz is a good guy, but not this time. He used all his knowledge for the deletion notable article, and it’s not fair. If you don’t help me, nobody will do it, because nobody cares about the justice. It’s impossible even to imagine East-European Black Metal scene without Lucifugum. It’s a fact, not my fantasy. Many interwikies (around 15!) can just confirm my words. You’re deep into Black Metal subject, that’s why, I hope you understand my hot emotions. Thank you for your time and sorry for my poor English. --Black pauk1488 (talk) 10:37, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

I see you already have opened Lucifugum page, thank you very much. You mean I must recreate this article by myself? Or you will do it by moving the existing page - User:Black pauk1488/Lucifugum}}? --Black pauk1488 (talk) 16:23, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

I have already moved the page. The article has been recreated. Thank you for your great help!--Black pauk1488 (talk) 17:03, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi there. I'd quite like to nip this one in the bud before we go through the whole rigmarole again. First off, can I state for the record that I am a fan of Lucifugum (and indeed many other non-notable black metal bands). However, without multiple, independent third-party sources, the article cannot possibly pass WP:MUSIC. They haven't released multiple albums on notable labels (indie or otherwise); a solitary re-release on Drakkar doesn't hack it. They haven't performed on significant tours. They don't contain notable members of other bands. They are not the most significant band of a specific scene or area. To claim that they are one of the most well-known Eastern European extreme metal bands would be a ludicrous statement. Yes, they have many interwikis... I suggest you may like to look at the editors/creators of those articles; it makes interesting reading. They are all SPAs, many of them the same. At present, there is a solitary reliable source in the article (the MusicMight one, which I'd like to point out I added); the others are fanzines, the transcripts of which are hosted by the band's own website. It's also worth bearing in mind that Propaganda is a) not a notable indie and b) owned by the band, making the bulk of their back catalogue self-released. Finally, can I reiterate (on a slightly pedantic note) that any username including the term "1488" is almost certainly in breach of Wikipedia username regulations. If reliable sources are found, I will happily try to help make the article better, but the borderline personal attacks from Black Pauk1488 over the last year or so are becoming wearing. Blackmetalbaz (talk) 12:01, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Greetings, Undead warrior! What did I say? Blackmetalbaz will sleep well only after Lucifugum page is removed. On the other hand, pages of other bands, which are in much worst condition, are not a problem to him. It’s very and very strange. Undead warrior! Please, please help me to save Lucifugum page from this “fan” Blackmetalbaz! As for my 1488, it means nothing, you can read it at my talk page.--Black pauk1488 (talk) 14:19, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Undead warrior! Sorry for my numerous messages, it’s just because Blackmetalbaz attacks Lucifugum page again! May be, login Christianbaz could be more suitable for him, keeping in attention his “nice” attitude to a Satanic band Lucifugum. I’m sorry, if I’m not enough polite and civil. To be honest, I’m afraid, I will be a loser again. I repeat, if you don’t help me, nobody will do it, and Blackmetalbaz will reach a next triumph. Could you please make something for Lucifugum page? May be, some editions, defending comments at the discussion page or so on? Deletion of this page will become the next crime against Black Metal history at Wikipedia pages. Thank you in advance. Now you can understand my despair of this situation. --Black pauk1488 (talk) 15:02, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi again! To see that my words are not empty sounds just look at Nocturnal Breed page. This page was nominated for deletion, but it was not deleted. This page looks much worse of Lucifugum page, which, may be, not perfect, but anyway, not so bad as Blackmetalbaz represents it. Reference to last.fm (user edited source, he-he) at Nocturnal Breed page is not a reason for our friend Blackmetalbaz to sleep bad and to want to delete this page. I’m sure, this is not a one example only, just search deep. This is the next proof that Blackmetalbaz has a strong wish to delete Lucifugum page at any cost. Why? I don’t know. Ask him. Don’t want to teach anybody, but I’m sure, moderators should keep an eye on this guy. --Black pauk1488 (talk) 15:50, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Lucifugum redux

Hi, and thanks for your message. Multiple album releases on Drakkar would indeed pass WP:MUSIC, but I can only see one listed either on Wikipedia, discogs.com and Metallum. Releases on blackmetal.com have almost certainly been reviewed somewhere but I couldn't spot any amongst Terrorizer or Zero Tolerance and webzines obviously don't pass WP:RS. If sources are found, I'll gladly help improve the article but despite looking I couldn't find any reliable sources to justify its inclusion. As a rough guide to how notable print magazines regard the band, this month Terrorizer released a "Secret History of Black Metal" (the first in a new series of guides they're going to be producing); it devotes three pages of text to the Eastern European scene and Lucifugum gets half a sentence, not note that "they are still going despite personal difficulties". That doesn't look terribly promising. Blackmetalbaz (talk) 09:47, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi again, Undead warrior! Thank you for your wish to help. The whole Lucifugum article is here: User:Black pauk1488/Lucifugum}}. Feel free to edit it and to correct whatever you want. When bring it to a notable status please move it to a respective place. Sincerely your friend, --Black pauk1488 (talk) 21:32, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

As for Terrorizer, it’s just a problem of their competence. This band is impossible to miss, especially in East European scene. Especially for competent mass media. As far as I know, Lucifugum refused of interviews to some major magazines. May be, Terrorizer was among them, and it’s a kind of a “revenge”. As for this: "they are still going despite personal difficulties"… he-he, band with “personal difficulties” making an album each year… it’s a phenomenon. He-he, Terrorizer is amazing.--Black pauk1488 (talk) 23:07, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

well i think the post on the topic caste system in india about racism vs caste is biased Although casteism do not have an angle of racism to it in its principal form but its effects are almost same and as UN has recognized caste discrimination as a human right issue like racism then we should be more empathetic about the cause and try to accept its ifluence and reality. Even now a modern india openly follows casteism , marries within his own caste. This is clearly evident by almost all newspapers and matrimonial sites based on caste system. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Indiyouthblogger (talkcontribs) 18:00, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Admin Coaching

Hi, I was doing a bit of tidying up at Wikipedia:Admin coaching/Requests for Coaching, and I saw that your status was "Match Pending".

Was coaching ever sorted out? If so, could you please ask your coach to add you to the list at Wikipedia:Admin coaching/Status and remove your entry at the Requests page?

If it fell through, and you are still interested in being coached, could you remove the "Match pending" from the list?

If, on the other hand, you are no longer interested in being coached, perhaps you would consider removing your request from the list?

AfD nomination of List of hard rock bands and artists

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is List of hard rock bands and artists. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of hard rock bands and artists (3rd nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:04, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Imogen article

I apologize in advance for any misunderstandings caused. This figure has achieved notable success. What would be within the realms of the aforementioned "stories?" W Magazine is a reputable source with articles that extend beyond mere photographs (http://www.wmagazine.com/w/blogs/editorsblog/2009/09/22/imogen-morris-clarke.htm). So is New York Magazine (http://nymag.com/daily/fashion/2008/10/meet_the_new_girl_imogen_morri.html).
