Black Metal and Satan

I'm a pleb where music's concerned, a lover of Shakira. I was just wondering, is Black Metal the type of metal, out of all the types of metal music, whose lyrics etc. are the most concerned with Satan? I ask out of curiosity and also out of wondering if my AfD notification was given to the right metal wikiproject. I know most metallers aren't satanists really, but thought as the phrase Hail Satan is sometimes used by bands and fans, a wikiproject might have an opinion on it.Sticky Parkin 04:25, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi, just to say I've removed the section including my request at the metal project, because the nominator accused me of "canvassing" although IMHO my request was neutral, hope you don't mind. I just don't need the hellish torment of the AfD being started all over again. But thank you for your comments. Sticky Parkin 22:09, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

Martin John Callanan

If you think that Martin John Callanan should be speedied, please explain why in the AfD on it that was going on when you attached the speedy deletion request (which I have removed), and which is still going on now. Thank you (and no reply needed, though a response at the AfD would be welcome). -- Hoary (talk) 03:49, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Here is your edit: see how you slapped the speedy-delete request above an AfD notice. If you think that the AfD is unnecessary and that the article should instead be speedied, feel free to say so at the AfD. -- Hoary (talk) 05:45, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

San Jose Golddiggers

Hi Undead warrior, In regards to the placing of the San Jose Golddiggers article for deletion, I have some information I'd like to pass on to you in an effort to stop the deletion of this article.

Google isn't the only legitimate reference source for info on the internet. Yahoo was several listings other than Wikipedia to use as references. The list includes:

[1]

[2]

[3]

[4]

[5] (this one gets the team name wrong, but that is the only mistake)

The league was televised by ESPN and I have VHS tapes of games somewhere in my storage locker, literally a couple of hundred game action photographs, MLV volleyballs, programs, media guides, a pennant, etc. from the Golddiggers. I even have the advertising tape for DHL Courier Service that was on the net for the final match in Major League Volleyball history, the 1989 MLV All Star Game.

This isn't a hoax, the Golddiggers really existed from 1987-1989. I hope this info helps clesr up the misunderstanding.

Thank you for your time, —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bill swanson (talkcontribs) 06:49, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

re: Golddiggers

My sources are not reliable ?

Are you seriously trying to tell me that Texas A&M 's bio for their volleyball coach is not reliable?? What do you think? We aren't inventing this information. Do you think we are all hallucinating??

Why do you want to kill the article? Do you have a problem with the Golddiggers having existed? Why would we perpetuate a myth on Wikipedia? I was a season-ticket holder for the Golddiggers and one of my best friends at the time was one of their team photographers. ESPN televised the league, were they imagining it too?

Google is NOT a reliable judge of whether anything existed prior to Google's existence. The net doesn't care if anyone remembers the team. We that cared for Major League Volleyball and the San Jose Golddiggers are the ones who want to remember. You dispute the info without reason. I can't recall asking Texas A&M to fake their coaches bio. Come on, be real here. I'm not the only person who gave you a website to check.

Please don't wreck it for those who care about the Golddiggers being remembered.--Bill swanson (talk) 22:38, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

re: re: Golddiggers

Undead warrior - I did not post this article, I only added to it. I wasn't trying to be rude, I was responding to you saying my sources weren't reliable, which is questioning my integrity and also my intellect.

Minor fringe sports, as some like to call them, are, by nature not well covered by the media, including the internet. Saying the team was a hoax is ludicrous. What do I need to do, send you a copy of a videotape of a match on ESPN? Would that be deemed reliable? Photos?

Why is this a difficult thing to accept for you. I have given you several sites, whether Geocities or not, I didn't create ANY of them, don't know the people who did. Another poster offered you another one. Just because a stupid search engine doesn't find much on the team doesn't mean it didn't exist.

What can I do to get this deletion stopped? I guess very few people remember that the web was virtually non-existent when the league played from 1987-1989, so posting articles and pictures from the team and the league hasn't been done as well as it should've been. Not, in my humble opinion, a reason to go on a vendetta to get the article deleted. I'm only trying to stop the deletion of the article from wikipedia. Not cause you a problem. Thank you for your time.--Bill swanson (talk) 16:22, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

In addition: here are some more links to help verify the Golddiggers.

[6]

[7]

[8]

I hope these help clarify the situation. Also, the Golddiggers played before capacity crowds, including standing room, at San Jose Civic Auditorium (capacity 2,200) for virtually every match in team history. The team could've drawn more, but the arena was too small. MLV awarded the Golddiggers as host city for the 1987 finals and the 1989 All Star Match as a reward for their attendance numbers. I understand that 2,200 isn't a huge crowd, but if attendance figures were a criteria for relevance, most minor league baseball and hockey teams would not be deemed as relevant.

Volleyball Monthly magazine covered the league extensively, ESPN televised the MLV match of the week, All Star Matches and the MLV finals, both of which were, unfortunately lost by the Golddiggers.

I am researching more info from the San Jose Mercury-News newspaper, the city of San Jose and the San Jose Chamber of Commerce as well as ESPN and Fox Sports Bay Area (formerly known as SportsChannel Bay Area). When I have more to give you I will add it here on your talk page. Thanks,--Bill swanson (talk) 17:45, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

re: Golddiggers, again

Undead warrior - Now who is coming across as rude? You were the person who insisted on reliable sources, so I sent them to you first. I was trying to see if you would accept these sources as reliable. You seem to be the only person who is asking for confirmation, so it seemed logical to send you the links. Civility is a two-way street. I will put them on the article, but wanted you to see them first. --Bill swanson (talk) 00:06, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

With due respect, what are you talking about? It is an album cover and the image page has both a fair use tag and a fair use rationale. Furthermore, it states that Thescore.jpg "is a cover of the album The Score - An Epica Journey by Epica." There was no point in the template. —♦♦ AMBER(ЯʘCK) 16:49, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

As I said, there is a source written down. The quote I pasted in my previous comment on your talkpage ("is a cover of the album The Score - An Epica Journey by Epica.") is there for a reason. That is your source. Simple as that. From what URL the image was uploaded is irrelevant. As the fair use rationale on Image:Slipknot - Vol. 3- (The Subliminal Verses).jpg says: "[The] creator of this digital version is irrelevant as the copyright in all equivalent images is still held by the same party. Copyright held by the record company or the artist." To prove that URLs are really not needed, look at the album cover pages of most featured articles. Image:The JAMS- 1987 (What The Fuck Is Going On?).jpg, Image:SmashingPumpkins-Adore.jpg, Image:Silverchair - Diorama.jpg or Image:PavementSlayTracks.jpg. And there's more. —♦♦ AMBER(ЯʘCK) 11:41, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

With your recent activites with privatly owned Oregon Airports I highly recomend you participating in the Airport Notability project going on. We'd greatly appreciate your input. Thanks, --Trashbag (talk) 22:21, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Re: User:Undead warrior/non: "I just started in oregon. Have fun." You might disagree with the notability of the Oregon airport articles (and note that I think merging is a good idea in many cases and am unlikely to !vote "keep" on many of these), but the only reason you have so many to pick on is that Trashbag worked very hard to complete the Oregon airport lists, which has happened with very few states. Though effort is not a rationale for "Keep" at Afd, I think it would be nice if you could acknowledge the good faith efforts of Trashbag and maybe try to tone down the commentary that implies that it will be fun to go after his articles. CSD:G3

I've removed the CSD:G3 from Steven Disraeli. G3 is for pure vandalism including blatant hoaxes, not for something that we suspect is a hoax. The Prod and AfD process is designed to give people time to demonstrate that the article is not a hoax, and benefit of the doubt should be afforded to the article's editors. If the Disraeli "hoax" is blatant to you then I must humbly disagree.  X  S  G  17:19, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Emalina Afd

I was out by the time this closed, but I just wanted to respond to some of your last comments. First, "her one event is not a notable one anymore. It was notable for a small while, but not anymore. And, if the result is delete, you can always redirect the page ti the list of youtube celebrities" [9]. You cannot have an event that reduces in notability, anything that is determined notable at a point in time remains notable for ever more on wikipedia, this is a basic concept, and has nothing to do with fame or public perception. And you cannot redirect a deleted article, that is the whole point of deletion, its gone. To create a redirect, which I thought I had explained to death in the debate, the correct outcome needs to be merge. In light of this I'm genuinely concerned at you being considered for adminship above. These are basic issues that too many normal editors get wrong, but admins should get right. It's also quite shocking that MBisanz gave no closing explanation at all given the amount of basically wrong comments in that Afd.

Secondly, "What he's saying is that if anyone does one event and it gets a decent amount of attention, then they would get an article by your rationale. If someone does one thing that is notable, and only one thing, that is not worthy of a page on an encyclopedia. It might be worth mentioning in a large article that encompasses many one hit wonder you tubers, but, it does not deserve it's own article" [10]. Again, I thought I had explained to death the difference between warranting a bio and warranting mention in an appropriate topic (with a more appropriate and encyclopoedic title than "one hit wonder you tubers"). You described exactly what I was supporting, not the retention of an article but mention of the event elsewhere, which is exaclty what WP:BLP1E ratifies. I am just bemused as to how a high school science competition winner would get coverage in national newspapers, if that is what he truly meant. MickMacNee (talk) 18:23, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Please contact the closing admins if you'd like clarifications from them. As far as I know, delete and merge are essentially the same result. You are right that notability is permanent. Perhaps the comment had incorrect word choice. The subject may have been very visible for a brief time, but they are not notable, could be a better way to phrase it. why would you delete a page of band that you know nothing of? even if you have no interest or knowledge of a genre of music which has a global following, it doesn't give you the right to delete the bands page. just because you may know nothing about something, it doesn't give you the right to delete the information pertaining to it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Grilledvegetables (talkcontribs) 10:52, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
