Hey! Hope you're excited to start using the Wiki! JulesCapone (talk) 23:56, 25 January 2015 (UTC)JulesCaponeReply

Yein-- Would you refer to the original instance of the "mami" figure? That could be a good starting point, and provide context. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yblue782 (talkcontribs) 21:02, 5 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

On a positive note, what you have so far is definitely clear, accessible (in terms of language), and reads like an encyclopedia entry (i.e. without a particular bias or argument). On another note, as you move forward, if you intend to keep you first section as the "introductory" section, I would include a note about context within the first sentence or so. You make mention to the 1990s towards the end of the paragraph, but it is always better (I think...) to locate what you are talking about before you start talking about it. Also, definitely continue one with talking about particular performance arts who embody "mami" and/or evoke the image in their music. You may also want to expand into other pop cultural references beyond the music industry. Good start! JulesCapone (talk) 22:09, 5 March 2015 (UTC)JulesCaponeReply

February 2015 edit

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Turntablism may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s and 1 "{}"s likely mistaking one for another. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • it as being "...like cutting, the backspin, and the double-back." <ref>[Chang 2005, p. 113}</ref>

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, BracketBot (talk) 16:41, 12 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Mami edit

An article does not go directly into Category:Hip hop if it's already in Category:Hip hop phrases and Category:Puerto Rican hip hop — articles on Wikipedia are filed only in the narrowest appropriate categories, and not in every possible category even if some of them are already parents of the more specific ones. Accordingly, if I see you revert the page back into a category it doesn't belong in one more time, I'm going to lock the page so that you can't edit it at all.
