Italiotis concerning macedon and ancient language

edit

Hi truemaniac. The issue of the original language of Macedon before the adoption of Attic Greek, should not be related with the current issue between FYROM and Greece. It is unfortunate that FYROM insists in using plainly the term Macedonia and Macedonian to decribe itself, and creates a massive confusion within the academic community due to the fact that those terms equally describe the old greek kingdom of macedon and its greek inhabitants i.e. the ancient macedonians and their language. Nonetheless the language spoken by the ancient greek kingdom of Macedon is called macedonian and we are not in position to alter the historical facts because some slavs have decided to self-determine themselves with an allien for them name belonging to the Greek civilisation. So we cannot make any alterations as the precise description of the language spoken by macedon is macedonianItaliotis 18:23, 20 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
