I Gotta Feeling
I guess you were right about "I Gotta Feeling" instead of "I Gotta Feelin'". It is based on the tracklisting instead of the single artwork. And it's correct now that you got the official single cover.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 808-Thug (talk • contribs) 06:07, 22 July 2009

WP:Hornbook -- a new law-related task force for the J.D. curriculum
Hi Totie/Archive 1,
I'm asking Wikipedians who are interested in United States legal articles to take a look at WP:Hornbook, the new "JD curriculum task force".
Our mission is to assimilate into Wikipedia all the insights of an American law school education, by reducing hornbooks to footnotes.
- Each casebook will have a subpage.
- Over the course of a semester, each subpage will shift its focus to track the unfolding curriculum(s) for classes using that casebook around the country.
- It will also feature an extensive, hyperlinked "index" or "outline" to that casebook, pointing to pages, headers, or {{anchors}} in Wikipedia (example).
- Individual law schools can freely adapt our casebook outlines to the idiosyncratic curriculum devised by each individual professor.
- I'm encouraging law students around the country to create local chapters of the club I'm starting at my own law school, "Student WP:Hornbook Editors". Using WP:Hornbook as our headquarters, we're hoping to create a study group so inclusive that nobody will dare not join.
What you can do now:
- 1. Add WP:Hornbook to your watchlist, {{User Hornbook}} to your userpage, and ~~~~ to Wikipedia:Hornbook/participants.
- 2. If you're a law student,
- Email http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:Hornbook to your classmates, and tell them to do the same.
- Contact me directly via talk page or email about coordinating a chapter of "Student WP:Hornbook Editors" at your own school.
- (You don't have to start the club, or even be involved in it; just help direct me to someone who might.)
- 3. Introduce yourself to me. Law editors on Wikipedia are a scarce commodity. Do knock on my talk page if there's an article you'd like help on.
Regards, Andrew Gradman talk/WP:Hornbook 02:13, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Italicizing Mac
Hi! According to MOS:BOLDTITLE, the term Mac in the first sentence of Macintosh should be bolded because it is a common abbreviation. If you didn't know, don't worry, but is there any reason in particular that you changed it?--HereToHelp (talk to me) 18:26, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
- I thought only the lemma and redirected words should be emphasized in the article (Mac does not redirect to Macintosh). Nevermind, thanks for your explanation.--Totie (talk) 18:51, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi Totie. I was wondering if you had the time to translate a short section of old Dutch in the image File:Delaware Bay Vinckeboons 14.jpg. The image is currently being nominated at Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Delaware Bay 1639. If you're interested, take a go, and let me know at User_talk:Mostlyharmless#Translation (I'm contacting more than one person, so I don't want to cause a duplication of effort!). Hello Totie, I noticed that you have been removing {{italictitle}} templates from some articles. Please note that Wikipedia:WikiProject Academic Journals/Writing guide recommends that all articles on academic journals use {{italictitle}}. Here is your comment: «I've overwritten your changes to the article. It said: "After issues from 2012 campaign (such as the the debt and Bygmalion), the mid term meeting made the UMP brand disappear to use the new controversial brand Les Républicains on the 28th May till 30th May 2015." I didn't entirely understand what you meant and I couldn't find more information in your sources. They didn't say anything about these 2012 issues you mentioned and neither was anything mentioned on the (temporary) use of the Les Républicains name.—Totie (talk) 16:24, 30 May 2015 (UTC)»
Sorry if this is not clear. So, here are some piece of information:
- Bygmalion: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affaire_Bygmalion (sources are available in the source section)
- For the debt, there are some words in https://fr.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Union_pour_un_mouvement_populaire : «En juin 2014, François Fillon annonce un endettement « proche de 80 millions d'euros »[1]. Le 8 juillet 2014, à la suite du bureau politique de l'UMP, Le Monde annonce que le montant de la dette est de 74,5 millions d'euros.»
- «the 28th May till 30th May 2015.» is the date of the meeting which make the UMP brand to disappear (the two first day of the meeting) and when the «Les Républicains» brand become to be used (the third day).
- ^ endettée à hauteur de 80 millions d'euros, Le Figaro, 30 juin 2014
Nonetheless we cannot know who long will be the Les Républicains name:
- Union pour la majorité présidentielle was 7 month in 2002
- Union pour un mouvement populaire was 13 years from 2002 to 2015
- Rassemblement pour la République was 26 years
- Union des démocrates pour la République 9 years from 1967 to 1976
Hope it helps. Regard
Quick note
You were the only editor of System Integrity Protection (there were two just edits in its history: you creating it, and you asking for deletion), so it would have been simpler if you'd just requested an author-type deletion, {{db-g7}}. Of course the other reason was also valid; my point is simply that it takes somewhat longer to verify that a db-move is appropriate than to verify the db-g7, so administrators are more likely to do the G7 because it's quicker and easier. Nyttend (talk) 04:23, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

Discover added to apple pay article
I added that discover now processes apple pay as of ios 9 and september 2015 and you are reverting me stating "We don’t mention specific providers for a reason." The article clearly mentions amex mastercard and visa, and not only that the giant main photo mentions royal bank of scotland and natwest, starbucks and others. Discover is the fourth major credit card processing system in america (visa, mastercard, amex and discover), it is no different then listing amex who processes thier own cards. and it deserves to have a mention or the article is incomplete. -Tracer9999 (talk) 14:24, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
- The other credit card providers are mentioned in a different context: to point out the compatibility with pre-existing NFC-based hardware (see introduction) and to illustrate what happened behind the scenes before the official announcement (see history). That goes beyond mere advertising. However, the same cannot be said about Discover, regardless whether it is a major credit card provider. What you did was specifically highlight that Discover was announced without providing any other context that could be of relevance to readers. The advertising claim has been debated to exhaustion on the talk page, you ought to have a look there first.–Totie (talk) 17:30, 11 October 2015 (UTC)

Dutch parliamentary system
Hi! My edits were based upon literal Dutch translations of the name, but I do see how the Dutch Government used the previous names in English. Surely a way forward ought to be to use both names, making a distinction between official and common names? Also, in relation the a potential page move it probably isn't necessary, in the light of the fact that the Dutch Government use the current names in English. Thanks! EncyclopaediaNilssonia (talk) 17:43, 4 March 2016 (UTC)
- @EncyclopaediaNilssonia: You should have a look at Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English). The guiding principle is that Wikipedia should use established names, that is, names that are commonly used in English. First Chamber and Second Chamber are literal translations that English speakers may not be familiar with. In this case we do have official names as well as secondary English sources. What you can see there is that either the official names are used (Tweede Kamer), the official English names (House of Representatives) or descriptive terms (like lower/upper chamber or house). Translations may certainly be added, but ultimately I think that the literal translation is not appropriate, given the more common names that are available.–Totie (talk) 22:05, 4 March 2016 (UTC)
Definite articles and marketing jargon.

- There was an objection to my removal of "the" from the lead sentence of iPhone SE. I disagree, mainly because this article is about an entire class of item, and not the specific iPhone SE someone may possess. But Totie stated that this was "marketing jargon", and later elaborated by saying that "Noun or noun phrases should have a determiner in English grammar. Apple likes to drop determiners to present their products names as pronouns" ViperSnake151 Talk 00:14, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
- I emphatically disagree with this last quotation. Plurals, definite nouns, and proper name omit determiners. That's elementary school education.

- For hardware instances, however, we occasionally resort to deletion on the grounds of metonymy: As long as we are talking about one or more devices, "The iPhone device" becomes "the iPhone" and "iPhone devices" become "iPhones" (plural). But that does not happen when we are talking about brand names.
- The last sentence in the quotation is patently false. The English (which is short for "the English language") has a fixed list of pronouns.
- Best regards,

- Emphatically disagreeing with this summarises it neatly. I see that you went ahead and made your changes and completely disregarded the consistency with other Apple device articles. Given our previous disagreements, I will not add anything to this discussion, aside from admitting that my edit summary was indeed poorly written. I still hold on to the opinion that this is Apple’s marketing speak and it is sneaking into these articles at too many places.–Totie (talk) 01:41, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
- You can try showing me non-marketing speak. That will be very persuasive. You can even use Corpus of Contemporary American English if you wish. That's not cheating here, because we are not in a class. Best regards, Codename Lisa (talk) 11:37, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

ArbCom 2018 election voter message
Hello, Totie. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
