Copying within Wikipedia requires proper attribution

edit

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Three Alls Policy into List of war crimes. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was moved, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 18:31, 21 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

List of genocides by death toll

edit

I see you are making large changes to the page - I think you should at least include an edit summary, explaining why you have made the changes, especially if you are removing and adding material in the same edit it can become confusing and look like you are trying to hide changes to the article. Some of the chnages you want to make may be being discussed on talk as well. Seraphim System (talk) 03:39, 23 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

I agree with Seraphim System. I'm concerned over the reintroduction of content previously introduced by a blocked user, as well as renaming sections without consulting with any other editors. I understand this to be a WP:BOLD move by a new editor however, as this article (and other articles you have been working on) have been the subject of problematic editing, I am reverting your latest series of edits and will ask you to explain your rationale on the article's talk page. --Iryna Harpy (talk) 05:25, 23 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to List of genocides by death toll does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing →   Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Iryna Harpy (talk) 05:33, 23 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Genocides in history and List of genocides by death toll. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continual disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges.
Please use the article's talk page to explain your proposed changes instead of edit warring them back in again. Article talk pages are used for such processes explicitly. Your additions and changes have not been constructive, and genocide topics are extremely controversial.

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at List of genocides by death toll. Iryna Harpy (talk) 22:43, 29 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Nihonjoe. Your recent edit to the page Kirishitan appears to have added incorrect information, so I have removed it for now. If you believe the information was correct, please cite a reliable source or discuss your change on the article's talk page. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 23:44, 29 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
